This was from the 2nd run so it was still an early one and had a few issues but nothing that couldn't be fixed. I think now there better but overall I'm happy with the quality. Plus not a whole lot to choose from in the 80% 1911 frame department!

You guys are making me jealous with your 1911 builds!  Here's my measly rebuild of a Para P13-45...

My old pin gun with ragged optic mount holes

Just picked up the frame from my gunsmith who welded in the holes with SS wire and cerakoted it

I hand lapped the slide to the rails for a tight fit

Now I need to assemble and fit everything back together - it's been at least 15 years since I assembled a 1911 from scratch!  I may have to watch a YouTube video...

The first Jojos gun I ever bought was the same frame with a Colt Commander slide.  Heavy beast even unloaded.  I still have a NIB frame in the safe.  Good luck with yours.

My wife, daughter and I went up to kittery and ll bean the past few days. Kittery trading post has a new sig display which was pretty impressive. A ton of silencers and ar's . It's worth the trip for ammo, everything seemed a hair cheaper then here . Ll bean is well, a yuppie store but I love their stuff. Only picked up a few clothes for my daughter and a new pair of boots for me but it's always fun to go through the store.  this display is probably my favorite taxidermy job on the planet .

Nice. We go up once a year. I love Kittery Trading Post, especially that sale tent outside.

Great breakfast diner right at the north end of that strip on the left. Can't remember the name right now.

The Kittery Smuggling Post is fun to wander through. Prices are a bit better than Cabelas. The sales are worth it.

Then stop next door to Bob's Clam Hut for a Lobster roll.

Stainless steal guid rod.
Flat face aluminum trigger which does actually help keeping your pulls consistent and after a few range trips it smoothes out real nice.
Actual sights which are pretty good you can do more then point and shoot now which is nice.

Please don't tell me you got that to form freeze plugs.

Been careful of the cheaper brands. They can have a bit of slop and should be shimmed. You don't want 20+ tons slipping out due to large tolerances.

Oh and Nutter, I though if I put an ar15 16" barrel in there and pressed down on it it would turn into a 7" 9mm Sten barrel.

Picked up a SGW complete lower today.  Looks like it was used as a RDAIS/lightning link host in it's past life.

I took the lower apart abit.  It has a machined 2 position buffer tube with a plastic buffer and cut down buffer spring.  By how the trigger feels, it has been worked over or well broken in.

Much tougher than the first one I did.
I will also add; there is a big difference between a MAK 90 and Type 56 rifle, the quality did actually change.  Having said that the MAK is still nice, just not as nice as my transition AK47S.

Thanks guys!

And yep the gasblock had to have a channel cut into it so the cleaning rod would sit in it.

The biggest pain though was drilling the hole for the cleaning rod through the lower handguard retainer.  That really sucked!
The easiest way to do this would be to remove the gas block and front sight base.  Then remove the retainer, drill it, and reinstall everything.

I also threaded the barrel.  And I'm actually planning to replace the slant brakes on both of mine with the correct Chinese style muzzle nuts.  Then I'll take some nicer pictures

Bender, you can get an AKM gas block with cleaning rod capture and the bayonet wings. Just need to bore out the ID to AK spec.

Yea maybe down the road that is a possibility, I've even heard the Bulgarian gas blocks fit as is, but that retainer is not a huge deal to me.  If I had known this MAK needed the channel cut I probably would have picked up the gas block as well in preparation, and just done it also.  I'm in no rush to go back and do it now
I will say if anyone is planning to do a MAK that begins with 94 serial number, plan to do EVERYTHING.

Just "finished" a build on a pre-ban lower. RRA 18" Heavy Barrel w/ Battlecomp and matched BCG. Nikon Prostaff 7 4-16x50 BDC, Aero Precision Lightweight 30mm mount.

Picked the rail up from a vendor at the Springfield MA gun show, guy was from Danbury, CT - "MG Tactical" if I recall correctly. If you're on here, pretty nice, I have no complaints for the price, so, thanks!

Still have some odds and ends I want to take care of; keymod bi-pod attachment to lose the weight of the rail section and mount up front, need to get a keymod QD sling attachment as well, and Im going to pick up a RRA 2 stage trigger for it at some point. Then it'll be complete.

My weak attempt at photography, too. I didn't have the time or patience to set up any nice lighting like Bendy, so this time around I just pointed flood lights at it and took some stabs at different settings. After this half-assed attempt, I have to give props to Bendy and the couple other guys that really take the time on their photos. You guys make it look and sound so easy. Jesus Christ, that takes some patience and skill. Neither of which I seem to have tonight.

ETA: I need to get a remote shutter control for the camera. I shake it when I press the button, and I don't have the discipline to set the timer after every shot.

This was my winter score. Neighbor was moving, was telling me they were having a hard time finding someone to clear the driveway and then five minutes later mentioned they couldn't seem to sell this thing. So, I said Ill clear your driveway for the winter in trade for the machine. They said sure, and I think I had to clear the driveway 2-3 times before they moved. Fucking score. They gave me all the attachments and tools etc they had. Ive owned it for like 3-4 months and Ive used it 20 something times already.

All I did was give it a thorough cleaning and lubing.

ShopSmith - the Leatherman of machinery. I'd never heard of them before seeing this thing but holy fuck do I love it. It is pretty much every machine I never thought I could afford all rolled in to one. Wood lathe, band saw, table saw, drill press, disc and rotary sander, hell, it does some other things Im forgetting right now. Router table . . . takes up the space of a "bicycle". Fucking awesome. Its a woodshop in 18sq'.

Did I mention its on wheels!! Stop on the lever its on wheels, step on the lever again, drops down to the legs.

Thanks!

I need to zero it. If you head to Andover any of the next couple weekends and don't mind me tagging along Id be happy to let you put a couple mags through it.

I'm game, just let me know when you're free. Saturday afternoons or Sunday mornings are usually best for me.

My old man has had one for 30yr. When I was young he had no room for a big shop so he had that. He has since upgraded his shop but its still there and gets used for different functions.

ETA always set your RPMs before you join the attachments (high rpm bandsaws are scary)

Instead of the RRA 2 stage buy a LaRue MBT. If you have 6-7 weeks of patience you can get it for $125.

I have 2 of them and they are as good as the Geiselle SSAs that I have in most of my rifles.

That's my schedule for Andover as well. Anytime you go feel free to shoot me a message.  I'll bring some cool toys I've finished up.
