ShopSmith - the Leatherman of machinery. I'd never heard of them before seeing this thing but holy fuck do I love it. It is pretty much every machine I never thought I could afford all rolled in to one. Wood lathe, band saw, table saw, drill press, disc and rotary sander, hell, it does some other things Im forgetting right now. Router table . . . takes up the space of a "bicycle". Fucking awesome. Its a woodshop in 18sq'.

Did I mention its on wheels!! Stop on the lever its on wheels, step on the lever again, drops down to the legs.

Man, I coulda used that advice like 5 weeks ago.

Rattled out all the impacted dust though. I turned it on and as I could hear the pulleys start whining out on its way up I immediately shut it down, disconnected the bandsaw, and turned down the speed then reconnected it. It was definitely scary.

It is an intimidating machine when getting used to it. Triple checking to make sure everything is tightened down and nothing is touching to drive spindles on the opposite sides. There's a lot going on and more to pay attention to than standard equipment.

Thanks!

I need to zero it. If you head to Andover any of the next couple weekends and don't mind me tagging along Id be happy to let you put a couple mags through it.

I'm game, just let me know when you're free. Saturday afternoons or Sunday mornings are usually best for me.

Still have some odds and ends I want to take care of; keymod bi-pod attachment to lose the weight of the rail section and mount up front, need to get a keymod QD sling attachment as well, and Im going to pick up a RRA 2 stage trigger for it at some point. Then it'll be complete.

My weak attempt at photography, too. I didn't have the time or patience to set up any nice lighting like Bendy, so this time around I just pointed flood lights at it and took some stabs at different settings. After this half-assed attempt, I have to give props to Bendy and the couple other guys that really take the time on their photos. You guys make it look and sound so easy. Jesus Christ, that takes some patience and skill. Neither of which I seem to have tonight.

ETA: I need to get a remote shutter control for the camera. I shake it when I press the button, and I don't have the discipline to set the timer after every shot.

He participates in some of the threads and seems to be fine. Maybe he has calmed down as Biker said.

I can tell you this. His triggers are awesome and at $125 nothing compares. I would buy more if I didn't have 2 Geiselle SSA and 2 G2S triggers waiting for a home.

The LT MBT triggers ars superb and at 125 are a steal. They are much nearer a Geissele HiSpeed than an SSA.  If anyone wants to try one, I have one in my OBR.

First off, zeg nice rifle you got going there. Have you ever shot those 45 deg offset irons?

I am currently in the market for a trigger on my Reece style build. I was looking at the CMC single stage but I see the MBT is getting some high marks here. Anyone have any direct comparison between the two or is the larue so top flight the CMC shouldn't even be considered. And I personally don't care about anyone's antics, I conduct business with people who put out a product I want and their personal lives make no impact on my decisions. Mr larue can go as full randy as he wants

Have not shot them yet. I was just looking for a regular flip up buis and I stumbled upon that set used for $90 (in the EE) so I figured I'd give em a shot.

Spent a few hours yesterday at Jojos to hang out and fix a few things.  Just got a few pre-ban Colt lowers and added a trigger to a post-ban.  Nice to have all the tools I needed plus a gunsmith as a backup for when I fucked up.

The SDM-R type rifle is finally done.  These things are really nice to shoot:

-Colt lower
-Geiselle Hi-Speed DMR trigger
-Colt CS stock
-LT 20" Stealth upper with KAC URX 3.1 rail
-KAC 600m BUIS and KAC folding front
-Sierra Precision SPR grip stippled by a friend
-Atlas PRS bipod with custom pointed SS feet that stuck me twice
-Gemtech Bi-lock for my M4-96QD suppressor
C-More 1-5x24 sight in a LT 30mm SPR mount.  The C-More was made in very small quantities for a few mil units.  It is a true 1x with an illuminated dot in circle reticle. The glass is Swarovski.  These things are tough as hell.

Three Colt lowers that I assembled for certain uppers.

Very nice conn!
And awesome job on the gun and the pics zeger!  The last two pictures are actually pretty damn good.  Adjust the white balance MAYBE, but they actually look damn good as is.
Once you figure out a good lighting setup, which honestly does take quite a bit of effort, it's nothing to do after that first time.  I can setup and breakdown everything now within 5-10 mins and the pictures will come out almost the same as the last time.  The work is figuring it out the first time.  And it really depends on what your going for.  I use the clean white backdrop for the most part, but I'll be honest, your flag backdrop is pretty damn hot!  Nice job on picking that.

I pretty much love that 229. And I love that surefire XC1. I have one on my EDC, it's perfect for IWB carry. I'd love a legion, but I don't think I'd carry it, and I wouldn't compete with it. So on these grounds I can't justify it. But, it's a really nice set up you've got going on there.

Had a great lunch break yesterday. Went to Hiller's in Norwalk with my buddy and his two 9mm Hi-Powers. The one on the left has just been cerakoted, night sights and ring hammer installed at Delta Level Defense. The gun is super tight, shoots great. He may try to find a buyer for the other one soon, it's an old surplus gun that could use some love. I was shooting my S&W Victory, too. But these are the lookers.

happy birthday to me!

I've been coating quite a few of those YETI/RTIC cups lately. I know lots of other applicators that do more cups than they do guns these days. I personally love my cup though, it's amazing. And now that RTIC and SIC have the same cups for a fraction of the price of YETI, it makes them even more desireable. Add to that, Wal Mart is selling a veriant for 9.99 of a 20 oz tumbler,,. I bought four and it works just as well as the YETI brand ones...

Just started back at work after being out five and a half months.  Add another nearly two months since I went shooting.  Metacon really spiffed the place up.  It looks really good.  If it can avoid becoming a submarine every once in awhile, it will be perfect.

I went on Sunday afternoon like I usually do so I can have the place to myself.  Good weather brought out a few more people than I thought but it was fine.  I just finished assembling these two carbines and this was more to function check them than anything else.  I am taking an EAG Tactical Carbine course with Pat Rogers this year and I want my primary and secondary carbines to be set up the same.  I will be running them suppressed 100% of the time and will be using XM193 ammo so that's what I did all day.  I haven't shot 55gr 5.56 in years but it was fine.  I need another Aimpoint, need to change a stock, set up my sling points and they are GTG.  Only thing I really missed was my range cigar.  Can't smoke anymore.

The people at the Mt.Sinai lymphadeamic clinic were awesome.  Four weeks of massage and compression therapy really did wonders for the leg.  I still use a cane but got rid of the walker months ago.  Will make maximum medical improvement in a year which means sometime around November.  There is no pain but I just get tired in the afternoon.  I went back full time with no accommodations.  After a couple of months of work and going around the state, I'm sure I'll get stronger.

Signed my first warrant last Wednesday and had my first arrest since I got back on Friday.  Feels good to crush people's rights again although the battery was dead on my MRAP.  Can't believe no one started it while I was out.

Seriously, thank you very much for asking.
