Not really.  The pistol is protected from the elements when carried IWB.

Nice 45..

I would love to try the M&P45 to see how it compares to my Glock 21.  I wouldn't have thought anything could make me consider replacing it but my M&P40 is the sweetest full size polymer gun I've ever shot.

Thanks

I love this pistol, it has very little recoil. Ive not shot alot of handguns and i have a FNH FNS .40 which is a little snappy, the M&P .45 is alot more mello than my .40

Its a 1'' thick piece of Tefflon 8'' x 6 1/2'' and i drilled some holes in it, one 2'' one 7/8'' and a bunch of 1/4 holes.

We use this stuff where i work and i made an armors block out of it.

Me too, I'm so mad at myself for not being patient and getting a CORE but instead I got the M&P40 full size version with the thumb safety and steel low profile carry sights.  I love my gun and it's a great shooter but when I have a spare RMR sitting there it keeps reminding me I screwed up.

Love how that gun looks!

I've been a lurker for years, so I figured its time to register and actually post something!

M&P 9mm
APEX CAEK  (trigger and extractor on the way)
Inforce APL
Costa Ludus extended magazine release

The stippling and modifications were I did were based on the Salient Arms International frames....without the price tag!

Nice stippling job.  Ive been thinking about the Costa Ludus ext. mag release, how does it work out in a holster, does it want to release the mag ?

Thanks Big-Al ! The stippling is something I've tried to master over the years with doing sunglasses ( looks awesome on Oakley Gascans). The mag release does cause some issues on my bladetech holster that came with it from time to time. I've got a RTT Combo holster from Bravo Concealment coming in the next week or so, I'll update when I get it in.

Depends on holster. I have three of these that I've removed because the mag gets released in my OTG holster. Works fine in Safariland ALS holster.

I'm 98% sure that this project is complete.  Honestly, the only other modification I would make would be TiN coating the barrel.  It's an M&P Pro (not the CORE).  I purchased this well before the CORE was released, for which I have a strong dislike.  The platform for the RMR on the CORE sits far too high for my taste.  Here's where I'm at with it now:

  • Apex Tactical - set sear and trigger kit

  • Storm Lake - match barrel (recently polished the feed ramp and opened the cyl-bore

  • Carver Concepts - .40 3-port compensator, recoil spring

  • Speed Shooter Specialties - magwell

  • DP Custom Works - milled slide

  • Schryver Firearms - cerakote done in patriot brown and graphite / highly recommend Lin at Schryver's (it was humid out so the finish looks a tad bit wet in the pics)

  • PolyTactical - high-grip modification and grip stipple

  • Trijicon - dual RMR, 7.0 MOA amber dot and raised front sight

  • Costa-Ludis - catalyst extended mag release

  • Taylor Freelance - mag extensions and mag spring kits (20 + 1)
