So I was perusing uppers and handguards. The only one I have any experience with is the Aero one I have on the Trash Panda, and I was wondering if I used a regular set of handguards, not a free float tube, what else would I need with them to make it work on the barrel? Front and back retainers and a barrel nut? I honestly don't know - would love to find another free float one, but they seem to be pricey new, except for the NCStar stuff, which I am assuming, (based on previous experience with that brand), they are a half step above airsoft stuff, if that. I haven't gotten an upper receiver yet, was eyeing a slick side AR Stoner one on MidwayUSA for about $60, when/if funds come available, no forward assist and no dust cover. It seemed like a good one for as lightweight a build as I could pull off with very limited funds. Any suggestions? It will be a while, of course.

There's nothing behind the sight block but a retainer with a regular forearm. At the receiver end, you have the delta ring assembly, as opposed to the free float barrel nut.

Something tell me it would be easier just to try to find another free float tube, less extra parts to find.

So, with any luck, I've got 2 stripped lowers on the way, and will only need to repair one of them. Love a challenge.  That one will go to the Junior warboss.  It may take a weird turn, though. Kind of orkish. The other (undamaged) one will go to my pizza driver friend. As soon as I have them in hand, I'll lay out what I've got to see which puzzle pieces are missing.

Seriously man? What is your problem?

This is a very useful thread that has helped many members complete guns they otherwise may not have been able to, myself included. If you don't have anything to contribute go troll on another thread. You think you're being funny with your edgy posts, but all you're doing is being a waste of bandwidth.

Just put him on ignore, he’s one of the people that’s a completely useless troll but technically doesn’t violate the COC so he gets to stay.

Frankengun Chapter 5

Inga.
Dr.Backbencher has blessed us with parts from his latest victim, errr patient.   Go to him.   Make him forever grateful.

.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
But Doctor,
.
I have yet to recover from thanking Dr Talons.   He was quite,

.
.
.
.
.
um,

.
.
.
.
.
.
um,
.
.
.
.
.
.
g-e-n-e-r-o-u-s.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
Generous?
How so?
.
.
.
Lets just say,
.
.
.
.
.
.
he is full of the spirit of giving,
.
.
.
.
.
.
and delivers a package that every woman would LOVE to receive!

.
(cough, hack, snort, wheez, gasp...)
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
..
Very well.
.
Elizabeth!
.
YOU GO!
.
.
.
.
.
.
With Pleasure!  Doctor.

.
.
..
.
(Arriving at the backbencher castle...)
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
ohhh,
.
Dr. backbencher,
.
.
.
is it twuuuuuu?
.
.
.
.

.
.
what they say about youuu?
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
Oh MY!

Its TWUUU!

Its TWUUU!

.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
(at the backbencher castle,  three days later.)

Doctor,
I really must go.

.
.
.
556 schwanzstuckers is my limit!
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
(at the Fronkonstein castle, later that night)
.
.
.
.
.
.
Dr. Fronkonstein, you really should consult with Dr. backbencher more often.

.
.

.
.
.
.
He has such unique talents!
.
.
.
Really?
How so?
.
.
.
.
He only specializes in certain transplants.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
Transplants that drive women wild!
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
You should see what he can do for you!
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.

.
And he only uses the liveliest octopus!
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.

Thanks to Talons and backbencher for donating the following parts.    Final chapter real soon.  The build was done a while ago, but a broken hand and a really nasty viral infection has knocked me on my butt, and  this “wonderful” computer technology rarely seems to work right.   I’ve spent more time on these posts than actually building the pistol.
.
.

.
.

.
.
.
.
Back to the lab!

If you break your hand while rubbing your meat, you're doing it wrong, bud.

Glad to see you back.  Did you get the rattle in the upper figgered out?  I was wondering if it was still present when the buffer was pressing against the BCG.

The reason you have to have a genuine need is to attract donors.  There's already a pay-it-forward thread elsewhere, linked in the OP.  Here, we're giving parts away, and we're looking for good causes to give parts to.  If it just becomes a thread where folks post what they don't need, and someone says,"I'll take it", donors will stop showing up.

Look @ the recent "I need a scope for a young boy" thread.  A good cause, and GD pulled out all the stops - got the kid ammo, shooting muffs, a cleaning kit, and I don't know whatall.

I get that you WANT a part that's been offered up.  It's pretty.  It's free.  You have a place to put it.  But do you NEED it - do you honestly not have the wherewithal to build a complete rifle as a gift, the truck gun you should have, etc?  I'm not saying you should deprive little Timmy of new shoes to build your truck gun - I'm saying that if you already have 87 ARs, you should be on the donor side of the equation, and help out those without beater rifles - whether it's the poster that doesn't have an AR in his truck, or has relatives/friends/neighbors without ARs.

On another note, since the original thread that spawned this one, the AR lower thread, has just about died, I'm considering merging that function into this one.  Thoughts.

I totally agree and just meant that I don’t have a specific requirement in mind.

FWIW there’s a shop near me that has a boatload of take off carbine handguards and A2 grips. I’ll see if I can make a deal with them.
