does the vest bother you at all with the weight primarily on the right hand side?  I personally cannot stand my vests or packs to be weighted out un-evenly.  Have you used that set up all together in any competitions or anything?  The vest seems very bulky on your right side, does it impede drawing your pistol at all?  Any pictures of you wear it all at once?

Not harping on you at all!  Just curious, thanks!!

the pics may have been deceiving, but the vest is not unbalanced to the right side at all...it is a TT 2 piece MAV with the center adapter.  I have 2 mags to the left of the center adapter, 2 mags on the center adapter, and 2 mags to the right....if you use the to mags on the left and do not rotate any back over (which i try to do, because i get quicker reloads from the TACOS) then maybe, but i have not noticed.  I am like you, and I hate uneven loads as well,  to me, loaded up with full mags, it feels even.

Yes, I have run drills with it loaded up.  The pistol is on a thigh rig, and even though I run it as high as possible so it does not flop around when i run, it sits low enough where I have not had any problems drawing at all, diectly above the pistol there is nothing overly bulky on the vest..

I have worn the chest rig and belt at the same time (when i do that i take the AR mag pouches off the belt)...the only issue i have is my belly/love handles get pinched between the belt and chest rig a little, but nothing to bad...i guess its a sign i need to do more situps.

EDIT:
just took a few pics to show you what i mean...

front, you can see 2 mags on left, 2 mags in center, 2 mags on right, perfectly balanced...

side view:

other side:

and showing pistol draw...PLENTY of clearance...

pics may have been deceiving...but trust me, i have taken a lot of time thinking out the setup, testing it, rearanging, 86ing things that did not work for me (just check all my EE adds)...it has take a lot of trial and error, and moving stuff around but this is the best working se tup i have had....im sure as time passes though i will week it a little more...

haha....by the way my fiancée got home from work and i had the gear on taking pics using the auto timer and she was like "what the fuck are you doing"

It's a 9x9 sportsman's Guide tarp, sadly unavailable for a couple of years.  (Wasn't needed this trip though)  IMO you don't need much more in the South Eastern US for hiking/camping.  Mostly we just use hammocks for all but the coldest times of the year.

Shears are country comm http://www.countycomm.com/premiumshears.htm that I picked up thru Blackstone tactical with alot of the other stuff. The bottom minimav is just your standard 3 mag shingle with 2 single pistol pouches. I ran out of 13rd XD mags, so I have a pair of my AGP extended mags, but did order 6 more. The top Minimav has a 3 mag shingle with a single shingle closest to the blowout kit. Still need a few things, but right now it just has a israli bandage and some gause in it. Ordered a few CATs to go along with the other kits.

The 12g micro rig is the SOE with the padded H harness. Want to get a hydration bladder for it, but I did order a ATS low pro IFAK pullout to put in the pouch. I really like how they doubled up the 12G panels and how once they empty, they can be pulled off, and the replacement pulled up and tossed out and its available for immediate access. Really a well thought out design. Debating picking up a few pouches like this and tossing them on a minimav, but went this route instead. Maybe later Ill do a blowout and 3 SOE 12g panels on a mivimav?? Ordered it for black friday and it came the other day, but with sales and all it was under 100 (99.00) for 12G microrig, then 25 for the harness if Im not mistaking. Unfortantly, after I placed my order for some more gear, I went ot pay the CC so it maintains a $0 balance, and discovered some low life POS charged up my card to about $1000 working with the bank now about it, but I hate the indian CS that kept telling me to "call back in two four hours to speaka to fraud experts".

A few photos of the 12G setup.

yes, single point sling.

i have run some drills, but did not have this set up when i did a 2 day magpul class, so nothing super extensive...from what i did it did not seem to interfere, but again, i have not got to crazy with it.  when i let the rifle hang loose on the sling, and then grab and shoulder it, i dont have any issues. i can also go prone and get up with no issues.

OK so this is like the 6th post telling me my rig is flawed (which is fine, but how about some suggestions along with it).  I feel like i have seen a lot of setups that are just as bulky or even more bulky, especially the rigs that have body armor or plates. So how about you guys give me some advice...unstack the TACOS? ditch the double mag pouches and go to single mag pouches or all TACOS?  ditch the hard case?  Where does it look like it would interfere with rifle/sling, how can i fix it? please advise.

I am totally open to suggestions...give me something to go here guys!

I know the feeling man! It took me a while to get my rig straight, and I still consider it a work in progress.

Here is my suggestion, and I can't claim ownership of these, because they were all given to me in this thread

My main observation is that your front-most gear is sticking out far enough that it would interfere with your rifle while moving with the rifle at rest. In most situations you won't have the rifle shouldered 100% of the time. So take your rifle, let it hang, and try some basic movements, such as picking up things from the ground, running, or crouching. If the rifle gets tangled up in your gear, or beats your knees, etc, then you need to make adjustments.

Your pistol setup looks very squared away, and I like it. I'm personally not a fan of the double stack AR mag pouches, but a lot of guys run them with great success, so I'd cough that up to just me. However, I'd suggest you empty all your mags, and your gun, and try running around doing mag changes without taking your eyes off target. I'd wager that you will stumble with access to those double pouches with flaps. Just a guess.

Regarding the single point sling.... I ran one for a while and I simply hate them with a passion. They give you zero retention when you don't have both hands on the rifle. Try this:

Let your rifle hang, and run 50 yards, then drop to your knees, and crawl on all fours for 10 yards, without hands on your rifle.

Also, try doing a transition from your rifle to your sidearm and move and shoot. I'd bet your rifle beats you to death.

Also, I'm no expert, these are just personal experiences.

ah, thank you! some good advice.

yes, im sure the way the rig is set up will continue to change.  I have thought about ditching the double mag pouches with flaps and going to all TACOS. just dont have the funds now...also double stacked tacos are going to stick out just as much as the mag pouches i have now, so im still up in the air about it.  the way i do it now is use the 2 mags in the tacos and rotate mags from the other pouches over to them when i have a second.  im just a civilian so its easy for me since i never have to worry about anyone shooting back.

and yes, i know what you mean about the single point, if you let it hang and go to your knees, the end of your barrel is going straight into the ground.  i did have a magpul sling for a while so i could go from sing point to 2 point, but i eventually went back to my sling because its more comfortable...again, i just shoot for fun, so i have the luxury of choosing comfort :)

good stuff to think about though, and the first thing i am going to further test is running around with rifle hanging free, and also going from rifle to handgun and moving around. thanks again bcauz3y.

I just picked up the new Crye Precision Gun-Clip.

I was hoping to wear it on my belt on hip side but I found the operation difficult when compared to mounted on a chest or stomach area of a plate carrier. I think I will stick with my current belt holster and add this to any LBE with
MOLLE support, as it works quite well mounted in this position. Naturally your middle finger wants to break the button safety release, and it works out great with your hands palm having solid contact on the surface of your firearm. You should not have an issue with a weak or incorrect grip by the time you have indexed your weapon, although I have had the magazine button get tapped against the Gun clip when doing a few drills and my magazine fell to the ground. This only happend twice I think, out of 50 or so draws. It could have been a fluke, more testing is required and be put through more strenious "soldier proofing".

My main concern right off are the clips that are holding your AR mag pouches shut. I've never been able to do anything with haste that was behind clips. It almost requires 3 steps:

1) unclip

2) pull the flap back

3) draw magazine

I am too stoopid for this. I find myself slapping at it like a dog trying to open a tri-fold wallet. YMMV

post a large photo of the rig.

That's the biggest pic I have of it.

Left side 3 mag pouch with dividers intact, saw pouch, canteen and cup, butt pack
Right side 3 mag pouch without dividers (small crap pouch- spoon, Leatherman, mirror, camo cream, lighter, heat tabs, chapstick, small diamond sharpener, 550 cord, etc), 3 mag pouch with dividers intact, CS ODA knife, canteen, cup, pouch.

First aid pouch has x2 dressings, other one for compass. In SAW pouch I keep 3 mags, small binos, whatever else (map, etc)...buttpack has 2 stripped MRE's, poncho, Otis cleaning kit, toothbrush, socks, foot powder, Altiod tin with moleskin, small first aid creme, a few band aids.

I may drop the knife and right side mag pouch and add a SAW pouch. I have gone back to British LBE suspenders, I never liked the Y ones. I always used the H ones when I was active duty, with the exception of patrolling on the DMZ where I used the Y ones.

the LBE as pictured is basically what I used on active duty, except when I was an M-60 machinegunner I had a holster where the knife is and the remaining 3 mag pouches had no dividers...you can put rounds of linked 7.62 in them if you pack them right.

I don't know why I keep it set up.. but I feel better knowing it's there. Must have been ingrained at Fort Benning. ....

OK, here's my slightly updated old school set up:

L to R

compass
single mag pouch with 2 pistol mag pouch
single mag pouch with maglite and "possibles" pouch - camo sticks, spare glasses, 550 cord, lighter, spare compass
SOG SEAL knife
canteen
buttpack with food, stove, 550 cord, foot powder, socks, fire making kit
canteen
M12 holster on GI drop leg extender
3 mag pouch
first aid pouch with 2 field dressings

I used some of these pouches on my IRACK when I got it.  I need to put it back in issued condition with the 2 3 mag pouches.

Can you reach it with your left hand? Is it comfortable? Looks oddly placed to me.
