I built a 4'x12' hidden room accessible through a wine closet, with plenty of room to store guns, ammo, armor, bodies, etc. A hidden lever released a full length "bar" across the wine closet door, allowing it to hinge open via a spring mechanism. Once that wine rack was out of the way you could step into an atrium, unlock the inner door, and step into the vault. Before I moved I locked everything up nice and tight. Sometimes I wonder if the people living there now have any clue it is there. I had built a kickass bar in front of it all. Lemme find some old pics.

My shop has a home built steel, armory type door.
I was pondering the "safe room", but my biggest fear is someone starting the house on fire when ppl are in it. You would need a serious design to withstand that type of environment. |

I am meaning safe room as in a room that is a safe, not a panic room type thing one would retreat to.
If Im retreating, its out a window or door, not to my basement to isolate myself in a hardened closet. But If I gotta go down, I'd like to think it would be advancing.

4x12 room, this was while I was selling everything just before the ban - that's why the glass case is virtually empty. Hard to believe there was hundreds of thousands of rounds of ammo in there at one point
