My very first M1 Garand.  Just got it this morning.  It's a Springfield service grade from the CMP.  I've been taking a heat gun and slowly taking the grease off of the stock all day.  Serial number puts date of manufacture in 1955.  I think these are more addicting than AR's

Socom 16 with Rail cluster, Delta P Design thread adapter, YHM QD mount and Schuster Adjustable gas block. I'll try to get a pick up with the can.

Took the garands out of the safe today for a little sunshine and a group picture.  The warm sun  allows the stocks to "sweat" a bit before a good wipe down.

Top:  IHC
2nd:  Correct HRA
3rd:   '44 Winchester (mostly Winchester parts + USGI springfield)
4th:   '43 Springfield with correct parts, except for a slot gas plug and round clip latch.  It wears an SA GAW stock (late for this rifle)

The Winchester and Springfield made it out to the range 6/6/12 in honor of the 68th anniversary of the D-day landings in Normandy.

I'm sure this will make a few people cry, but I like it.

Not done yet, still needs an Aimpoint T1 on scout rail.

I see what ya did there with the front sight post. I would have thought a  flip up FS would be too high for the irons to be useful.

That's the prettiest M1, I've ever seen. What did it cost to build excluding the rifle?

It took me several years to buy things piece by piece when on sale. I've since sold that scope and upgraded with the 1-6sshd/5-20sshd comobo swfa is doing. However as pictured I'd say about 1,000. If bought when not on sale I'd say probably closer to 1600.

Took a few of mine out to play today after work.  We all got a good sweat in.  It was amazing what 100F+ heat and direct sunlight will sweat out of those old stocks!

Springfield Armory M1 Garand (Danish CMP Order), Late '44 dated Receiver, '53 dated Danish Barrel

AWESOME!!!!!

My Grandpa was in the 2nd ID in WWII and died in France.  I have a helmet and I was wanting to paint something on it make some kind of set up with the Garand hanging there and his helmet.  I was thinking about painting his SGT stripes on his helmet.  But this looks really good too!!!  Did you do that yourself?

Hot off the Fedex truck:

Forefront is H&R Service Grade. Behind is a Special Grade Springfield. Have not seen the bores but had I seen the rifles beforehand, I would've gotten both Service grades. They are THAT nice.

Some of the service grade H&R have new CMP stocks...which is I think what makes them Service and not "Correct."  When I was at the North Store last year, I walked by a number of HRA's that were all HRA except for the stock, and found my Winchester service grade in a like new HRA stock.   Not saying the guys at the CMP swap parts to help make sure they have rifles of certain grades on the racks, but it is aweful coincidental some times!

Those Springfield Special grades are great rifles, and one you can shoot and that will shoot well.
