Loving a lot of the detail people are putting into their actual builds. The fieldcraft on this web site is pretty amazing. I have been testing some new camo patterns/colors and finishes now that I am out. Would love to share but I have no idea how to upload pictures and I am computer illiterate. Any help would be very appreciated.
FWIW I am a 10 year Infantry Veteran so I am new to this forum but not weapons. Now that I am out I am able to stretch my creative legs in my weapons, ammo and field craft. |

Welcome.
I believe you have to up your post count before you can post pics (to prevent drive-by porn pic posts) You can send your pics to other guys and they can post em for you. Once you get your post count up, get a photobucket account or some other image host to upload your pics and you can post em yourself. |

Not an AR but I was experimenting with the Magazines before I make the leap on my 2 month old Daniel Defense build (That I saved for, planned and obsessed over for the past 9 years) Magpul Gen 2 Magazines Painted in with Rustoleum Ultra Flat Camo in Tan, Dark Earth, Foliage Green and OD Green (not actual names but colors they seem to mimic) Camo is achieved with a combination of netting, foliage overlay and printed/razor cutout of a banksie art rendering of a panda, because Identification. If you want more details on how I achieved these colors feel free to email me. The color pallet I was going for could be similar to Krypek Mandrake and this was the first time I was able to do camo the way I saw fit. Any feedback is always welcome. *** Apologies for the image size*** |

The practice was invaluble. You have a really nice pattern going there. I like it a lot. |

For those of you that have painted EOTechs (yes I still have one), I'm assuming the easiest method to make sure you don't accidentally paint the glass is to just take off the battery cover and the lens cover and paint them separately, then reinstall, right?
Seems like that would also keep the push buttons from getting painted and possibly sticking. |

Got the stencils in, applied, sprayed again and assembled. Considering it's my first attempt, I'm fairly happy with the results. The handguard is tough since it's hard to see the pattern with so much cut out.

When I sprayed the base coat of dark earth Aervoe, it looked so good and uniform that I almost stopped there, however I had committed to going with full camo and glad that I did. I didn't bother with a flat clear coat and the Aervoe seems plenty durable without it.

..... I've just realized that painting your service rifle and painting your own rifle are two totally different animals, haha! It took a while before I could convince myself I really wanted to paint my new built rifle, but I'm glad I have so far, still in the process. Sorry the pictures aren't that great and paint is still drying.

How do you like the Alumahyde? I used the matte black for a pri genIII, and it was like I anodized it. Very cool. What I did with one, was topped her off with Duracoat matte clear to seal in the Krylon, but a few coats of Rustoleum matte clear has been surprisingly effective. Put around 1000 rounds through my 308 mk12, and the shell deflector didn't chip yet
