Don't know if you guys didn't notice, but I do have a few mags ready and posted on the AR15 mag sale board.  Once I got started seems like they came together easier this time.  I pulled a muscle in my upper back so I won't be doing any weight lifting for the next ten days or so.  I'll try using the extra time to work on more ar45 mags.

3/6/06

OK.  I'm sick as a dog at the moment but I think you'll be pleased to see an update.  I've got 7 mags back from parkerizing.  They'll be ready to go in a few days.  I still have to parkerize the followers and floorplates.  I will be contacting people in the order they expressed interest in buying.  Sorry the picture isn't better.  The parkerizing Todd Grove did looks really nice.  I don't know WTF the camera did, there looks like there are brown spots towards the top of the mags.  I can assume you it's solid parkerizing.

One other note (previously mentioned in one of the updates): price went up to $43.

Can you describe this modification? Does it allow the mags to fit in an AR mag well?

Thx.

Here is a pic of one from a while back that I converted to a 50rd.  It wasn't refinished at this point.  I'll try to get a few finished by the end of the week and take some more pics.

30 rounders to compliment my 16 rounders in a standard aluminum lower? You know I'm in! The 16 rounders you made for me are great. I'm still stretching the new springs, but they feed great, even though only 13 rounds at this point.
2 30s PLEASE!!

I'm planning on making some dalphon style GG mags for the ar15.  Would anyone be interested?  I will be starting on these in the next 10 days.  Price for a 30rd will be $35 and the price for a 50rd will be $65.  This includes parkerizing.  I will try to post a pic of the type of mag I'm referring to later tonight.  Here's a pic of my progress.  The tig welder is off line for a week, so I don't know when I'll get to finish the first batch.  But the fillers have been milled to size (still need cut to length), and the tops of the mags have been milled.  Since need to clean them up, squeeze 'em, and weld.

Wow, 30 rnds.  Put me down for 4 @$35 ea.  I am in no big hurry, so don't rush.  I have Stens to get by with.

This was pure $$$ to be made.  I was never contacted.  I am no longer interested.

Snead45, I could probably work something out for a ten round 10mm.  Have to get to the regular mags first.

Update for everyone 1/10/06

Still waiting on the jig to modify the followers.  Sorry for the delay.  Believe me, I wait to get some of these out.

For the amount of work it takes, wouldn't it be easier to just make a new magazine?

Nightowl,

I don't think there's enough demand to do the design work, test, and make the tooling.  I'll let someone else chime in that's knows more about it.

I am really interested in seeing a picture of the jig and a before/after pic of the follower.  Making the mag body is easy, but I don't currently understand what is done to the follower.  I was kinda wondering if it could just be split, compressed, and re-welded with less effort.

Why did flames (fire!) come out of the ejection port of your subgun?

I've seen sparks but you had yourself a little fireball man.

(PS, awesome metal working on those mags!)

That's a good question.  They are some left over 200gr SWC loads that I used in my 1911.  Never noticed it before.  If everything goes when I should have 18 mags ready by the end of the week.    I will be contacting people in order they expressed interest.
