Any products or styles that were the "MUST HAVE" item at one time?Only to be laughed at now!

When HK mags first came out it seemed like a lot of people here thought they were the best ever. Now, not so much.

The OKO sight was a hot item here back around the turn of the century.

Quoted: The OKO sight was a hot item here back around the turn of the century. I went to a buddy's house and was told "Hey I won this cool optic on that ar15 site." then he pulled out a boxed OKO. My collar seemed a little tight at that point. |

The Matech, when it wasn't sold directly to civilians. Now that they are plentiful, people aren't so enamored.
Personally, I think it's a bargain for what you can get it for now. ($50ish) |
|
The Vortex flashhider used to be the shit. Dont get me wrong, it still is. But now there are a ton of other flashhiders. I remember when it was you either had a vortex......or you didnt.

Never in the history of the AR-15 has so much garbage been available. Someday we'll look back at what's available today and just laugh and laugh and laugh. |

I wonder if a K.I.S.S gun will be the "IN THING" to have again???
|
|
The thing to figure out is what's going to be a fad that's hot now and sell it, then figure out what will be hot next and stock up.

Dissipators I bought one of those ugly bastages cheap because the guy built it and thought it was ugly (it is) he never shot it. Sold it to me at a ~400 loss it's still ugly as sin butt it shoots damn good. |

ARMS S.I.R. Accu-wedge Gapper I actually liked the Accu-Wedge. I don't know if it helped accuracy any, but it took away the annoying play between the upper and lowers on both my AR-15A2, and CAR-15A2. My Colt M4/6920 doesn't seem to have much play in them. |

Did anyone mention the Noveske Piggy brake? Like a piggy on a 16" M4 barrel? Maybe it's like a bat donut? That way your weapon feels and swings faster! |
|
When I joined, it seemed the common build was an M4 style, then the mid-length uppers started to become popular. Coyote Brown started to get popular a bit later for color choice. Noveske wasn't talked about much at all. I got a lower from him because I liked the aethetics The serial number is under 175, so I guess he was just starting to offer lowers around then. Now Noveske is "all the rage", it seems.

Can't believe no one has mentioned Aimpoints!!! Oh and the new fad, PMAGs and CTR stocks.... |

How ridiculous were the fixed M4 stocks. My old post ban bushmaster was a 16" A2 with the A2 stock. I wanted an M4 stock but couldn't justify spending the dough on one that would collapse. I shake my head every time on that one.
|
|
Never were the rage, but still looked stupid:
Bushmaster AK-74 muzzle breaks Colt Muzzle breaks DPMS M203 handguards |

Coyote Brown, replaced by FDE
Lightweight builds(the really lightweight ones, where guys were milling holes in their magwells to shave grams) Recce builds(I built one, but after the fad and in 6.8mm. Its now my deer rifle) |
