Yep 300 hp ain't that much if it's not in a car. Anybody who drives a relatively new pickup has over 300 hp. Me ~380 hp in a 7000 lb pickup. Not fast but it's comfortable to DD.

Daily no.. 2010 Crown Vic, like 250hp..

Toy truck. 2012 Ram 3500; second gen swap, s472, steed speed manifold, h&s hot tunes. Similar setups are around the 500rwhp on other trucks.

I have 100hp industrial injection tips and arp625s for it but ffuucckkk, once I do that I'm gonna need a new clutch, then a new fuel pump, maybe a injection pump, then an intake horn, on and on...

Yup.

I don't really understand how somene could even consider driving a vehicle that had less than 300hp.

It has to suck knowing that everyone else on the road can just blow past you any time they want and there is nothing you can do about it.

You have to hear a Hellcat. Loudest factory car I have ever heard. You can't even talk when it fires up in the morning, too loud to hear anything. The closest thing I can remember was my cousin's '67 427 Vette (I was told it was an L88 and it's entirely possible, my cousin was car crazy and had many hi-po chevys).

Should try any coyote with an offroad Xpipe and borla/magnaflow/corsa straight through exhaust...

Cold starts are a cackling hornet nest.   Even more ungodly with long tubes.

My 2005 GT does some nice cold start barking when it runs an offroad pipe.

My 2015 GT will keep it's cats but will likely get a new resonator delete with ARK exhaust that has heimholtz chambers before the muffler.

But I get the point on the muscle car sound.

My 95 Cobra has short tubes, magnaflow x-pipe, flowmasters dumped at the axle.

With a loping cam it gets compliments a lot.    Have caught a few people even rolling down their windows to listen when it is at idle at an intersection.    It is still slow tho at maybe 240rwhp and running around 14.1 @98.5 on street tires and a rock hard road racing set of coilovers.

Very much so.  And torquey.  119 cubic inches.  Same bore and stroke as a Chevy 454.

I distinctly remember this Motortrend article in back in 1995 as my dad bought a new 1996 Mystic Mustang Cobra when I was a senior in high school.

The article featured the 10 most powerful cars available for sale in the US.  Average HP.....310.

http://www.motortrend.com/cars/chevrolet/impala/1996/americas-most-powerful/

Here is a snip:

"The 10 most powerful American-built ’96 models gathered for this test produce an average of 310 horsepower. In model year ’89 (hardly ancient history) the most powerful American production car was the L98 5.7-liter V-8 Corvette, and it made only 245 horsepower. But the horsepower explosion of the ’90s doesn’t stop with this elite group; everything is more powerful. Consider that the 2.5-liter DOHC V-6 in the ’96 Ford Contour produces 20 more horsepower than did the 5.0-liter V-8 in the ’90 Ford Crown Victoria (150 to 170)."

And the stats:

I think it will. Most 6cyl stuff is pushing 300+ these days. Nissan/Infiniti 3.5 and 3.7, Toyota/Lexus 6cyl, Honda 6cyl, Ford 6cyl, Chevy 6cyl, Ect. Even some 4cyl or over 300 in common platforms.

I'm loving the horsepower increases we've seen in every day vehicles over the last few decades. These days I'm driving an IS 350 to work every day making just over 300 hp. Even my wifes Durango makes over 300hp.

IS 350 pic. Not new, but fits the kids and it's still a little fun.

Right, my IS350 fits in the 300hp bracket, but I would need an ISF to fit in the 400hp bracket. I never test drove the ISF. I decided in my current financial position I couldn't justify an extra $10k for a 1 second faster 0-60. It's not like I'm going to track it, I just go back and forth to work every day. The ISF also has a different rear seat that only fits two. I've got three small kids, so I wanted the third rear seat. If something happened to my 350, I would be tempted to get an F and put my rear seat in it. Oh well, a 5 second 0-60 isn't too bad.
