938 for normal carry
Glock 27 for woods/hiking. I try to carry more than 9mm when hiking |

That's why I carry a pistol with a 15 round magazine. Hardball does a little better against glass and drywall, as well. Plus, I'm poor. In a first world way. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

124 grain hardball. Good enough for grunts, good enough for me. You do realize that it isn't good enough for grunts, it is just what they're forced to use. I carry FMJ in my .38 super as well, because bad guys don't like getting shot when the heat comes out and fuck their cover. |

147 rangers
124 or 147 XTP reloads depending on which mags I grab |

9mm in the woods? View Quote Alaska Outfitter Defends Fishermen from Raging Grizzly with 9mm Pistol I have killed enough bears to know how important shot placement can be, even with large-bore rifles. I was well aware of the limitations of my 9mm pistol, even with Buffalo Bore ammo. I was aiming for a vital area with each shot; because it all took place between 6 and 8 feet, they were not far off. But hitting the head and brain of a highly animated and agitated animal is a difficult shot. https://www.americanhunter.org/articles/2016/8/10/alaska-outfitter-defends-fishermen-from-raging-grizzly-with-9mm-pistol/ |

147gr HST, 147gr bonded Ranger, or 115gr Barnes. Just depends on what sidearm I grab. Mostly HST though.

147 HST for the street,
Woods caliber begins a 4 .41 magnum .44 magnum .454 |

124 Hornady TAP. And I don't wander in the woods with a 9mm...I bring a 10mm. Cuz its the best millimeter.

9mm carry load is 147 gr. HST always. Woods bummin' load is usually .45 Colt with 250gr. cast bullet over 8.0 grs. of W231 or .44 Spl. with a 250 gr. cast bullet over 7.0 grans of Unique.

Depends on the season/woods area mostly. Either 115gr critical defense from G17 with G19 cut grip EDC gun or DT 180gr controlled expansion in the 20sf during the aggressive animals/winter clothing seasons.
Most of my woods time is spent on our more remote properties, so the 16" Grendel is usually riding along. For regular hikes the 9mm SBR is usually folded in the backpack |
|
[#20]
147gr HST for both.
Methheads are the most dangerous predators lurking in the woods of my state. |
|
[#24]
147gr HST
I have a G20 and some 220gr hardcast I carry when hiking up north, or as a sidearm when hunting. |
|
[#25]
9mm carry load is Winchester 124g PDX. 9mm woods load is .44 mag.
|
|
[#26]
Carry either G26 or 9mm Shield, both loaded with Gold Dot or Golden Sabre 147
|
|
[#27]
Gold Dot 124 +P.
Once in a while, I switch to a 115 FMJ in the woods, but mostly just when I may want to work on draw and fire from field positions. |
|
[#32]
9mm usually speer Gold Dot 124 +P.
in the woods I carry a 686 357 7 shot with 160grain hard cast. |
|
[#34]
147gr HST. Ain't got no stinkin 9mm woods load. .357 or .44 goodness.
|
|
[#36]
ALL my 9mms are SD/Carry loaded with either 115/124gr stuff. Preferably Gold Dots, or Federal HST, Hydra Shok. I reload my own range ammo.

GoldDot 124+p with G26 up to G17
Feel its one of the best out there if not the best. Think a few mags have Win BlackTalon/Ranger (what ever they are called)127+p friend gave me years ago. Woods same or fmj..Normaly a 357 or 45acp. |

VP9 or Shield.
VP9 147 HST +P and the Shield 150 HST 9x19 cannot do it all so therefore it will never be my woods gun in the mountains, because that is what 10mm is for. |
|
[#44]
124 plus P Gold Dot
For the woods 400 grain hard cast over a healthy dose of h4198 |
|
[#45]
Looks like 147 HST is popular, now that it's only $20/50 I've switched over to it completely. Picked up a half case and ordering a quarter case every few months while it's so cheap.
If I ran 9mm for woods use it would be a 147gr Hardcast lead truncated cone driven fast as possible |
