My 2014 JKUR was right at 40K.  It could have been less, but I ordered side airbags the dual top group, and an automatic transmission.  It is a heck of a lot of fun in the backcountry.

Remove ridiculous options that have no effect on performance. (Do get the better soft top though and all performance enhancing options)

An 8 year loan for a vehicle is absurd.

An 8 year loan for a vehicle with a 3 year warranty is fucking stupid.

Paid $21,000 for my 2012 Sport back in late 2013. I bought a Rubi junk yard Dana 44 front axle for $800 and had it and the rear axle re-geared and a Eaton - Truetrac installed for $1500. $2300 bucks total.  I don't need leather, power windows and a sticker where I drive my Jeep.

Interested in knowing what rate too. Last year I stupidly signed up for a seven year loan @ 1.9%. I financed 16k and have it knocked down to about 10k right now. Should be able to pay it off within two years here.

Do you really need the Rubicon?  Stock Wrangler with the factory rear LSD is very capable off road and very poor surfaces. I would consider the LSD to be a requirement,  I don't like that Chrysler even offers the Wrangler with an open rear.

Last year bought a 2012 used Rubicon. Love. Yes all the TJ owners will hate you cause your stock Jeep goes just as good as their TR with $10,000 into it.

It have been out many time to fairly hard trails with 2 adults, 3 kids and a dog. Fit that in you TJ. :)  Has the pin strips to prove it.

Just put a 3 1/2" Metalcloak lift on it.

I will admit Jeep did one thing wrong. You can not turn the ESP totally off. It won't spin tires in the mud.

I think it all depends on what you plan to do with your Jeep.  I live in the mountains where rocks need climbing.  The Rubicon has a better rear axle, more armor, lockers, and a sway bar disconnect.

EDIT:

I bought my 08 rubicon jku at a estate sale in 2010, got it for less than trade in price do to the economy sucking at the time.  I've since put an additonal 60,000 miles on it and I've looked at the trade in price and it's the same amount that I bought it for.  The rubicon is like the gold standard for holding value.  I've always enjoyed that with honda and jeep wranglers.

The dealership I work P/T at has a few over $50k (not the brodozer dealership package, but straight factory).

They had a simple 2dr sport come in and a few days later they had it lifted with bro-wheels.  It sat for months before some sucker bought it.

I paid 32k for loaded 2012. Then sold it for 36k a couple years latter, the prices made a huge jump in between then. I prices the same jeep out and it was into the 40's and there's even more options now too.

It's true. Lockers and gears (axles and Tcase) are the best and most expensive upgrade on a 4wd. My friend just bought a Power Wagon and his math had him saving around $5k over buying a stock 3/4ton and adding all of the goodies. If you don't use it off-road, it's not worth the money.

That is true, but if you are planning to go bigger than 35" tires, you would be money ahead to get a sport and upgrade everything yourself.

Its easy and affordable to build a competent trail or crawling rig. Not so much if you also want it to be an excellent daily driver as well as capable of taking a family camping. I'm ordering a JKU specifically because I want one vehicle that can do a little bit of everything. The added capability is well worth the extra cash.
