My last words on this. As fate would have it, I was off today. Normally I would have been hip deep in this. Today, however, I was at home. Blocks away from where this incident resolved. PLEASE, before you post in threads like this, remember, your words can have a direct impact on people close to the situation. The Hive is an unbelievable place, with unbelievable knowledge and power. Was also monitoring the scanner feed when they got this POS. Medical was requested for him, and I hope the K-9's I heard barking at the take down had something to do with that request. |

RIP to the fallen... this thread has more info than the Sac Bee or the radio I had on all day. I think the landscaper who got his truck carjacked is a customer at my store.
I'm very curious what the hell the motive was here... crazy meth/drug behavior? Guy was up to his eyeballs in warrants and didn't want to be jailed/deported? Another customer was right by where it happened, told me people were yelling "get down get down!" |

Erwin said a resident reported seeing a vehicle that matched the description of the stolen red truck. Deputies swarmed the area, and the suspect shot two deputies with an AR-15-type assault weapon before fleeing into a wooded canyon area, Erwin said. She did not immediately release the deputies' names or other identifying information, but she said the second Placer County deputy was shot in the arm and was expected to survive. Rather than focus on the failed justice system - I'm betting these assholes were in and out of the system for years - the shit-for-brains in Sacramento will blame the rifle. Fuck.

Sacramento County Sheriff John Scott earlier identified the first dead officer as Deputy Danny Oliver, 47, a 15-year veteran, who had been shot in the head. The second fatality was not immediately identified.
Sheriff's spokeswoman Sgt. Lisa Bowman said the deputy was approaching a suspicious vehicle in a parking lot in the Arden Way area of Sacramento near a Motel 6 when he was shot before 11 a.m. Friday. The Associated Press said the shooter was carrying AR-15 type assault rifle. "The person who was inside of the vehicle shot rounds at the officer," she said during a press conference on Friday. "At least one shot was fired at our deputy, striking him at least one time." Prayers for the officers. It's a very tuff job that I've been doing for 14 years now. violent crimes and assaults towards police have seemed to progress a lot over time. I've always dealt with violent gangs, folk nation, crypts, bloods, ms13, and even a few sovereign citizens here and there, now we are getting bullentines about ISIS targeting us. Stay vigilant and always be aware of your surroundings. Because to some people if your wearing a badge your a target.

Turns out a good friend of mine was best friends with Deputy Davis' dad, and had the duty of informing the family of the father's death in 1987.
RIP Brother. Sac SO and Placer County SO have both shown class today, prayers out to the families and friends of our fallen Brothers. |

Sounds like the surviving partner at the original stop got at least one hit on the bad guy:
"He was not able to return fire or do anything," Jones said. He said Oliver's partner was able to shoot back as the vehicle fled the scene. ... Cruz told The Sacramento Bee that a man in a white Ford Mustang convertible told him he needed a favor: "I need your keys," the man said. "Hurry up, because they're chasing me." Cruz said the man pointed a gun at him and had a bloody shirt wrapped around his other arm. He is quite the gangster--murder, multiple carjackings, home invasion, kidnapping. The female who was with him sounds like no prize, either. Police had to take him down at a residence he had invaded. What's the story on this guy--some dipshit tweaker on a paranoid binge or some sort of long-term, well-known criminal moving some weight? |

Part of me wants to think that Danny died saving humanity from an ISIS operative about ready to unleash a large canister of Ebola. To me, it makes it a bit easier. But the truth is, today was a battle of good vs. evil. Plain and simple. Evil got its licks in today. Good won the day. Evil is evil, period. What causes it to rear its head is of little consequence. Evil will always be there, waiting. Train/prep.

Once things went south he was just running, either to get away and make it to Mexico or to draw attention away from the transaction at the motel, or a little bit of both. They weren't irrational--they were sharp enough to change clothes, not quite sharp enough to avoid being observed doing so. Sounds like they've got criminal experience. |
