I am a wordsmith am I not, I have been called a modern Aristophanes, Shakespeare, or if you will a Dickens. I do believe the story of Antigone, a female protagonist, supports my position that female protagonists are nothing new and should not harm the story. I do not know many people who would jump out of a movie yelling, "Hey! They changed the classic archetype for the protagonist! This movie sucks because it does not 100% copy ancient Greek story telling!" I think most people will be "Lasers, explosions, spaceships, aliens, and hot chicks! Awesome!" |

It sucked so bad that female protagonists were considered career destroyers for 2400 years. Antigone was the JarJar of ancient art. |

I don't understand casting black and female lead characters.
I can honestly say that I don't personally know a black star wars fan. Do they exist? Of course so but I'd wager it isn't the norm. My wife thinks star wars and star trek are the same thing so what's the purpose there? Seems like from a financial standpoint alone it alienates your core fan base to some extent. Sure, it'll be a commercial success and make money but why? Why cater to an audience that isn't interested in your story? Oh well. I'm sure they'll get my money but to me it just doesn't make sense. |
