I don't mind if you have a side in this. It really makes no difference to me from a political or religious standpoint as I personally don't support either side in the conflict and think they are both behaving like asshats with their tit for tat stupidity.

However, when you start making accusations that Europeans are anti-semitic - and the same goes for all the other idiots who think the same in this thread - then I am going to challenge you.

There are 745 Million people in Europe, and in that population you are going to get people who do not like others.....there is always going to be a degree of latent dislike between some groups.  When tensions flare as they often do in the middle east, we see a rise in attacks by a very small minority of idiots.  The same thing happened in the Gulf Wars, after 9/11, after 7/7 and at other time.

If I see what you describe happening at any time, I promise you faithfully I would be the first one to say so. I wouldn't like to see it happening any more than you do. As it stands now, what you are describing is neither an increase in European anti-semitism or reliable in terms of a prediction of mood.

What do you want me to produce?  Evidence that something you claim is happening, actually isn't happening?

I have better things to do than spend time looking for link to "win" a debate on the internet.  The narrative of both sides of the argument is being ramped up to generate sympathy and stir outrage.  On the one hand we have the Palistinians producing pictures of the Fogel family murder scene and claiming that the images from the crime scene are dead Palestinian children killed by Israeli soldiers, and on the other hand you have people with other allegiances claiming that there is a rise in anti-semitism in Europe of suit their agenda.  It's all manipulation.

I don't think thou are a naive little boy.....I think you are being fed, or perhaps choosing to be fed, a line that is at best grossly exaggerated and at worst an outright lie and you are holding more stock in that line of thinking than perhaps you should.

As I said - if I see anything indicating that extreme anti-semitism is taking hold in Europe again then I would be the first to agree with you.

It's present everywhere, including the US.   But then again so is bigotry of many types.

It's an aspect of human nature that has always, and will always be there as a natural part of human conditioning.  Anyone who thinks it can be eradicated is away with the fairies.

I am not the "only person who knows what is happening".  I am just bloke who is engaged in a conversation about a subject where there is a bit of debate about the veracity of what is being reported and the motives behind it.

I am taking no sides in the whole Israel and Palestine thing - I am responding to the accusation that extreme anti-semitism is taking hold in Europe again.

There are many reasons Jewish people are leaving Europe and going to live in Israel.  Firstly the Israeli Govt is actively encouraging Aliyah through tax breaks and by welcoming those people to Israel as their home.  Article here on how tax laws favour those who wish to emigrate from other countries to go and live in Israel - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aliyah

Firstly there has been a discontent with the economic situation in Europe.  The Euro is on it's arse and things are still economically stagnant with negative inflation.  The Euro has more countries who are net takers than net givers and there i economic uncertainty about what is going to happen in the Eurozone.  To be honest, given the way the Eurozone is performing, the installation of a socialist Govt which imposed heavy taxation on businesses, and the tax breaks being offered in Israel, I don't blame Jewish people for the increasing Aliyah rates.

Secondly it makes reference to anti-semitism.  While there is CONCERN about anti-semitism, the stats actually showed that there has been a fall in anti-semitic behaviour over the last couple of years and the pattern of anti-semitism follows closely the flaring of troubles between Israel and the Palestinian Territories.  It does not say that there is an increase in anti-semitism.

Even so, the article goes on to express that there is actually active growth in the way young Jewish people view their heritage and see Israel. Many olim are responding to programmes by the Israeli Govt to get Jewsih people to go to Israel and visit the country, with a view to working or touring and learning about their heritage.  This has been successful, while the economic situation in the Eurozone looks bleak, in attracting Jewish people to Israel as a place to live.

The figures being quoted in this thread have a lot more behind them than the rather simplistic conclusions being drawn about anti-semitism.

More isolated incidents; disgruntled Muslims not happy with Israel - it has nothing to do with antisemitism which is directed at all Jews.

Also: There seems to be a misconception of what MY position is. I have the feeling that some people are claiming I stated that antisemitism is on a huge upswing, or that the upswing can't be attributed to Muslims immigration. The only other statement I've made is that the latent antisemitism among the indigenous population in most European countries is fairly high, sometimes around 20% or more and I've produced several sources that backed up those numbers. One of the initial sources has been called into question, but I also produced two more.



To summarize my position just in case anyone is confused:

• Antisemitism is on the rise


• The rise is probably attributable to Muslim immigrants, but not completely


• Antisemitism is becoming more extreme and violent


• The rise occurred well before the current Gaza conflict


• The violence is going through the roof in light of the Gaza conflict

 

And? people are reacting to Israel bombing the shit out of civilians in Gaza.
