"The Whale" just showed up. I had heard the story and was a little interested.
Documentary about a baby killer whale that got separated from his pod and decided to hang with people.
Truly an amazing thing, this happened in Canada and lasted four or five years. He was really tame and playful, even got lonely.
This was not what I expected it to be. Lots of politics and lots of retard, but still fascinating.

Best TV shows to watch on Netflix

Pretty solid list.  Even if it is from the huffington post.

This was nice but disappointing how it ends.  Thanks for recommending it though!

Netflix started a new section titled "Halloween Favorites."

Most appear to be shit, but there are some great movies in there.

Watched it the other night . A little slow in places but very entertaining overall . Pretty dim view of the old coal miners in 1870's Pennsylvania ....and why OSHA and unions were so desperately needed , back then .

I was planning on giving the TV series "Chuck" a try, but I see Netflix dropped that as well.

I've noticed in the past month they have been dropping a LOT of tv series and movies, but haven't been adding hardly anything.

Hammer of the Gods.

If it wasn't for the fact that they hired a cameraman with full blown Parkinson's disease, it would be pretty good.  But, I can't watch the fight scenes without feeling the need to vomit from motion sickness.

It was nice when Netflix provided expiration data. Too bad they stopped back in May.

Netflix API Developer Blog
Public API Update

   Daniel Jacobson

Starting today, we will no longer provide expiration dates for any of our titles in the public API.  We will continue to publish the field to the REST API and the catalog index file to minimize the likelihood of breaking applications that use it, although all titles will now have "1/1/2100" as the date value.

We are making this change because the expiration date can be inaccurate as a result of frequent, often last minute, changes in content flow.

Netflix members will still be able to see the listed title expirations on Netflix.com on each individual title page.

- Daniel Jacobson

"In Bruges"

Wrong I was, very much like a Guy Ritchie movie.

Watched two of three episodes of Comanche Moon last night. It's the prequel to Lonesome Dove. While not quite of the caliber of LD, I thought it was pretty good. Several of the characters were acted very much like those they were emulating. Gus and Dietz were pretty much spot on.

Anyway. Worth the watch if you enjoyed LD.

I think it is most underrated comedy of the past five years.  Not many people are willing to give it a chance (I guess in part due to the goofy title), but everyone I've recommended it to always ends up loving it.

I watched it tonite and thought it was pretty funny with an amusing premise.  It did have a couple of laugh out loud moments when Dale told the black guy, who was extremely on fire, to stop drop and roll.

I gave it a chance just due to this thread.  I thought it sucked and ended up FF to see if there was a plot twist or the entire thing was one big "oh, it's a hilarious misunderstanding" gag.  There's much worse stuff on Netflix, but there's better stuff as well.  I'm not normally a fan of comedies, so this review is worth what you paid for it.

Movies/Shows to SKIP:

World of the Dead: Zombie Diaries 2

Horrid shakey-cam with absolutely the WORST action scenes ever. Completely nonsensical ways of dealing with zombies. Which sucks, because despite the first 5 minutes being a complete cliche it was filmed really well. The rest of the movie falls completely flat.

Hammer of the Gods

Picture Hercules/Xena with swords and really bad cgi blood. The opening scene is BAD. I mean really really really bad and it just gets worse from there. To top it off the movie is so incredibly slow to progress. You would think that a movie that had that many gay references and talk of gay rape would make up for the shitty sets, the lack of extras, the piss poor fight scenes, and no plot with more tits and ass like any good B-movie would.

Revolution

If you want to see what is wrong with shows today, watch this one. What could have been an epic 5-year story arc about getting power back, living without power, what the characters had to do to survive. NOPE. Instead by episode 10 your are completely knowledgeable about almost everything but the nitty-gritty about why the power went off with maybe 15 minutes of backstory on the characters.

It is a Netflix original series in the sense that Netflix made the season themselves instead of another network making it and then Netflix paying them to show it.

I haven't looked to see if it got posted, but the show Arrow is pretty darn good, especially if you like comic book movies. It's like Batman, if Batman killed people, crossed with Hawkey, if Hawkeye wasn't a wuss.
