Just another hoary old chestnut that's been eking out a living in central Virginia, getting killed back by the blight every 5 years or so since 1914.  Think about that; this knee-high sprout has been growing and getting killed back, from the same root stock, for over 100 years.

Thanks Fred   I'm hoping the clouds clear out so I can go for a drive in an hour.  Supposed to be epic tonight, I know last night was where the clouds weren't.

Never seen a cloud front like that though.  Huh.

ETA:  apologies for the lame framing and clipped corner.  If I remember right this was a quick snap with an iPhone (which was my SOP for too many years).

Tom strutted his stuff for 3 hours this morning.  Note the bearded hen.  Note how red his caruncles have become in the 3 hours since the previous picture.  Getting all hot and bothered!

Thanks, it's at the National WW1 Museum in Kansas city. There is a program that plays on the backdrop every so often and that was during an intermission, here is one taken during the program. Luckily there was a good glass wall for me to brace on, these were taken handheld at 1/6 second.

Looks like you're getting that 500 dialed in!

That image really has a film feel to it.

That was the 70-300, but I'm loving the 500mm so far.  I need to really give it a good run one of these days.  I'm thinking about going up to the UAF campus this week sometime and seeing how the mountains look through it or something.  If you can get past the quirks, it really is a way underrated lens.  Then again, digital gets past the shutter and ISO issues that popped up with film.

Yay!  17:15 hours yesterday, on the way out after a LONG day thrashing through the briar patch.

Got about about 21:45 hrs.
