Nikon 105mm f/2.8D at various apertures from f/11 to f/22 for most shots. Yongnuo 568ex flash with a ring light adapter All hand held, shooting overhead, in live view. No focus stacking this time. Still though, I'm quite happy with the shots! |

This is the only answer!

Huntsman.
Those are probably the best pics I've seen in a spider ID thread. |
|
Ha!
I'll say it again. If spiders were the size of beagles we'd all be gonners. |
|
|
Does that fucker have 6 eyes? Or did I drink too much tonight?
Either one is possible! |

Great pictures!
And all of you freaking out at the "scary" spider? Please present your man card. We need to take a notch out of it. |

The number and placement of the eyes is diagnostic.
And yes, those are superb photos. ETA: Wikipedia says "two forward-facing rows of four" eyes. I only see two in the top row. Off to do more reading. |

The D500 is an amazing camera...and those are some amazing shots. I was so focused on the eyes and fangs, I didn't even notice the missing leg until I saw mention of it.

Couple weeks ago I was spraying the bugs with Demon WP and one of those SOBs ran out from under the eave. He did not like the blast of demon WP I gave him.

Missing a leg so you know its seen some action. Amazing pictures.

First question: are you really in the PHL or is that just a bullshit location code like many here use?
As for your critter, yeah, that looks like a Huntsman or closely related member of the tarantula family. <---Former tarantula keeper, who has held them in his hand before. |

This spider is identified as a Huntsman, but the eyes don't match the spider posted by OP. Maybe the lighting is just better in OP's photos. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/b/bd/Huntsman_spider_with_meal.jpg I'm out of my depth here. View Quote You are probably thinking the reflection off the mandibles are "eyes" which they are not. |

OP's spider has a good amount of venom in it. Look at those fangs...
Great shots OP. |

If you look close in the 4th picture it looks like eye-shine to the right of the middle two top eyes. Looks like the outer pair is spaced farther out. Great shots in any case! View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

2 rows of eyes, 6" across? Interesting
From my research, it looks like a run of the mill nope. |
|
How do you like that Yongnuo flash compared to the overpriced name-brand ones?
Nice looking shots, my wife would burn our house down if anything like that was found. |

Truth is I prefer my old D7200 for shots like this, but it's gone to the big camera farm in the sky. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

What is body length and approximate leg-span diameter?
Great photos, BTW! |

I had one of those things attack me in Okinawa. Bitch tried to get in my van through the window.
Fuck. that. |

I am finding I prefer my 500 over the 7200 and 7100...but the 7200 is no slouch. I can't believe how good the D500 works...it is epic. View Quote The D500 is having none of these shenanigans. The wifi only turns on if you NFC via the snapbridge app. You can get the app to connect with a bit of fuckery, but it's a pain in the ass. Aside from that sure, the D500 is better in nearly every way. |

It's missing a leg because someone already tried to kill it and failed... OP, keep posting regular updates... We need to know it didn't kill you...
