Tonight's featured avatar belongs to the member, amos1909 - a member of the site since 2008.
His avatar is the 1975 painting Prayer at Valley Forge by the artist Arnold Friberg. 
The artist himself best describes the painting and the efforts behind it. 
"One of the most inspiring portrayals of American history is that of George Washington on his knees in the snow at Valley Forge. That moving image personifies and testifies to our Founders' dependence upon Divine Providence during the darkest hours of our Revolutionary struggle." - President Ronald Reagan Mr Friberg passed away three years ago at the age of 96. ....and now you know.

Thanks for highlighting the painting! I use to think (as a child/teen) that it had been around for a couple hundred years. The story behind the painting has been but I was 5 years old when it was painted! I like the fact that it shows that even the greatest of men, have to turn to the Lord! Thanks again. Amos1909 |
