workout today had a complex:
Clean, front squat, jerk. Worked to a 285 which felt solid, loaded 295 and failed the jerk by an RCH. I ran out of time, though I think I woulda had it on a second attempt. Might actually hit a 300# clean and jerk before the summer hits proper. |

Leg day and all I did was squats.
Not sure if that is good or bad. Good because I did a ton of them and I am spent, but bad because hams and calves just shriveled up some more. |

Talked to an old Lifting Buddy. He tore a forearm tendon when benching 585 with a slingshot, completing the rep, grinding through it. He's 46. Needs surgery and hasn't benched since.
Another old friend had a complete bicep tear moving 185 from one rack to another, cleaning up the gym. He is a high 6's deadlifter ..WTF.. I'm weak compared to them but at least I am uninjured mostly and can still train. |

Ugh. Tonight was squats and jerk work.
5 sets of 3 squats at 415, followed immediately (within 10 seconds) 30" box jumps. My belt kept popping, I gotta get a belt worth a damn. I know I'm fat but velcro just ain't cutting it. Afterwards, did 5 sets of 3 rebound jerks with a 5 second negative...185 pounds felt like 285, it was miserable. THEN, ugh. "Hey let's do conditioning!" 27 burpees, 100m run. 21/100. 15/100, 9/100...9/100, 15/100, 21/100, 27/100. I think I might actually be dead. Sidenote: Schilling Grumpy Bear Nitro Coffee Cider is goddam amazing. |

500# deadlift 214# bodyweight. Probably would have been easier if on my first attempt I wouldn't have forgot 25#s on one side. |

View Quote my deadlift slowly grows with the squatting and back work I'm doing without actually deadlifting, but it's a really slow growth. My low back seems to really take a beating when squatting and I just can't recover from deads and lots of squats, so I've made my choice... Homer, My Face Is Up Here |
