Thursday Update:

Under the Robes: Killer History Examines What Really Happens In the Supreme Court...108 P
"Under the Robes is another installment of the bestselling Killer History series. In this collection of short essays, we explore a few of the major decision makers on the Supreme Court as well as a few of the landmark cases.
Disclaimer, if you are more comfortable with a politically correct examination of the historical record, you may prefer another book. However, if you can appreciate the lighter side of history, can laugh at the human bias, and frailties of historical figures then you are in the right place. If you prefer your history dull and boring then this is not the book for you."

NIGHT WALK...259 P
"I do not regularly read thriller novels so Night Walk was a new concept to me in many ways. I found the book exciting throughout, with the suspense building slowly to an exciting and unexpected conclusion. The author wove the story together from many seemingly unrelated threads in a systematic, calculated, and exciting way. I look forward to reading more from David Hudnut! "

Shrouds of Darkness..197 P
"Leo Malone is a vampire for hire to do just
about whatever you need done. Leo is hired by a young woman and her
brother to find her father, a werewolf and mob accountant, who has gone
missing and is suspected to be responsible for several killings
around Brooklyn. Leo soon finds there is far more going on than a
"simple" werewolf run amok problem. Leo's no nonsense, bullet diplomacy
approach to problem solving has him leaving no stone unturned and no
toes un-stepped on as he tries to unravel a conspiracy that threatens to
topple the enclave and reveal the existence of vampires."

Not Fit For Human Consumption: A Comedic Farce ..148 P
"A tale not to be taken too seriously, featuring cockroaches, genetically enhanced rats, foosball table destruction, rabbits, high school science clubs, hedgehog conspiracy theorists, military coups, adolescent bomb shelter romance and cosmic entities bent on annihilation.
As Arax the Annihilator tries to destroy the world, Henry Stewart, member of the Hedgehog Surveillance Network, is hoping to be part of the New World Order after the government topples (and join the Mile High Club in an airplane lavatory).
Loretta the rabbit, who just wants to hop free in a meadow after a lifetime of captivity, may be the key to stopping Arax - but only if she can avoid the neighborhood cats."

The Path to Freedom (Task Force 125) 344 P
"Book 1 in the Task Force 125 Series
In the war on terror...sometimes the best weapon is a woman...
Sarah Stevens is a washed-up military cop whose life is a shambles until she is offered a position as an agent with the CIA.
The thirty-year-old, overweight, down-on-her-luck Stevens goes to a secret training camp where she is transformed into a sexy and deadly agent whose mission is to stop, by any means possible, the financiers of terrorism against the United States and its allies.
Sarah soon discovers that this is an exciting new life loaded with adventure, danger and undeniable temptations…"

A NATION DIVIDED - THE SECOND CIVIL WAR (The Second Civil War - BOOK I) 280 P
"Few times in America’s history has the nation been so divided. To some, the government is on the right path, but to just as many, the country headed toward destruction. It is not about race this time. Instead it is about the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Many see the freedoms that our forefathers fought and died for being taken away.
Half of the population sees a Democratic society being stripped away and America headed toward Socialism. Many go so far as to say it is leaning toward Communism. At the center of the rift is the Bill of Rights, the provisions that most Americans hold dear."

The Resistance (The New World) 218 P
"Melanie Adams has a normal life like any other citizen of the New World. When her mother is executed after being deemed a domestic terrorist for accidentally muttering a banned word, however, she finds that she is not alone in believing it is the government, not her mother, that is to blame. She is soon contacted by Axel Chambers, a member of a resistance group who tells her that things used to be different, and that people used to be free.
Melanie finds that she is living in what used to be the United States of America. After learning more of what the country used to be compared to what it has become, she decides to join the fight in regaining the freedoms and rights that citizens once had. Axel trains her to be stealthy and to kill as an assassin, and the two become fast friends and partners, working together to gather artifacts from the country's history that could help them in the fight. The government will not make the fight easy. Intrusive technology is rampant in the New World, and the government does not like its citizens to have knowledge or allies. To make matters worse, Melanie and Axel are soon contacted by a government official who is looking to hire the duo to anonymously put a stop to the government's latest project: controlling the human mind."

Wednesday Update:

Hawk ...510 P
"If you are a fan of Vince Flynn, Clancy, Crais, Child or David Baldacci, you will love this book. It's an explosive spy thriller. Interest is grabbed early when the Secretary of State refers to most of Europe as "a bunch of teat-sucking freeloaders. A pack of meat hogs who never gave a crap about us in the first place." It's solidified when the President says of the Secretary, "The man's ignorance is only surpassed by his inability to make a decision." Thoroughly irreverent; believable, complicated story lines; a strong finish. Interest never wanes; a page turner you'll want to read end-to-end. The villains are so credible, so rich in political motivation and personal agenda, that after having finished the book, you'll find it hard to believe that Neary's bad guys don't actually exist. Likewise, the good guys; complex, intriguing, and volatile. A romantic relationship testing the faith of the protagonist - A ticking clock pushing the combatants toward an horrific conflagration, and the solution resting on the shoulders of Quentin Hawk, a rookie CIA agent compromised by his own non-conformist talents. A great read."

GUNS: The Real Shake...86 Pages
"In January of this year, King released his essay "Guns" as an Amazon Kindle Single. As with virtually all of King's works, it rose quickly to the top of the bestseller chart. But how much of King's emotional plea on the current gun debate is based on “truth”, and how much of it is typical, fantastical King fiction?
Hearn explores the underlying basis of King's impassioned argument, where he counters that it's nothing new, what King is saying, but simply more of the same anti-gun activist rhetoric that we've been hearing all along. Guns: The Real Shake, however, is not only a direct, unflinching reply to King's essay; it also explores some of the deeper issues and concerns of the nation's current gun control debate, tackles myths and misconceptions on such issues as gun violence and the NRA, and last—but certainly not least—Guns: The Real Shake examines some of the very scary—albeit very real—implications as to some of our current politicians, judges and legislators, their personal agendas, and how their actions might very well hold chilling consequences for our future Second Amendment freedoms."

Agent of Change (free)
First in the Liad Universe, by Steve Miller & Sharon Lee.

Great world building, interesting characters, and amazing space-opera.

The series just turned 25-lot's more where this one came from.

I have read a couple of the books in this series. Pretty good stuff and professionally edited so it is not full of typos and other writing errors.

Baen seems to be transitioning away from their free library and toward making what were once books in their free library available for free via Amazon. Maybe other services as well.

Sunday Update:

When Everything Changed ...14 Pages
"People had no idea they were being watched for thousands of years by an advanced race. Eventually that race couldn't take anymore of our blundering efforts at civilization and was compelled to set us straight. It's been five years since the "guardians" arrived and everything on earth has changed."

The Malthus Conspiracy...508 P
"In 2011 the world population hit seven billion. Fourteen thousand babies are born every hour. By 2045 the population is predicted to hit nine billion. Can our planet cope?
In 1798 Economist Reverend Thomas Malthus thought not. His work 'An Essay on the Principal of Population' predicted that population growth would outpace our ability to obtain resources, resulting in a global epidemic of famine that would destroy society unless curbed.
Fast forward to 2012. College students Dean Adams and his best friend Felix Pye, unwittingly stumble across the greatest conspiracy in history, and by doing so sign a death warrant. They are forced to run as powerful, high society members of a 200 year old secret Malthusian League attempt to silence them."

King-Born: The life of Olaf the Viking, King of the Danes and King of England...118 P
"King Born is a book for teenagers and adults of all ages.
This is the story of Olaf the Viking who became King of the Danes and King of England. Few of us in the English-speaking world nowadays believe that a man is bound by destiny; but medieval Europeans had no doubt of it. A lucky man would be successful; an "ill-starred" man would fail. The gods are paramount."

All Roads Are Circles...196 P
"Betrayal, loyalty, emotional carnage, forgiveness and yes, sex--two old friends, recent graduates from high school, go hitchhiking across Canada in the 70s, and meet and fall in love with the same girl. Their rollicking ride hooks them up with gun-toting businessmen, devious runaways, sinister (and toothless) threats, two truck-stealing brothers for whom lunatic larceny is a daily treat, and a roadside philosopher as wise as he is generous.
All Roads Are Circles is a story of innocence lost, knowledge gained, and the sweet madness of accepting a ride with driver after driver who might not--or definitely don't--have their passengers' best interests in mind. A wild ride; seat belts optional."

The Outer Edge of Heaven...274 P
"Montana truly is heavenly. Especially those handsome cowboys.
Her parents want a clout wielding attorney. She just wants to teach kindergarten. When her “all-powerful” parents actually choose her future husband, -a divorce lawyer named Elroy, Charlie opts out and heads for Big Sky Country to work on a sprawling ranch in the heart of the Montana Rockies. Filled with colorful characters of all kinds, a horse of her own, and one extremely attractive rancher, it makes for a summer never to be forgotten. Once again, Jaclyn M. Hawkes spins a tale filled with a deft mix of humor, romance, and tension that will leave you wishing that she’d kept on writing."

Easter Breads And Butter Spreads (Easter Breads, Sweet Breads And Butter Spreads)
"Easter is one of my favorite times of the year. As a season of renewal, everything feels fresh and new. Some of my fondest memories were born when, as a young girl, I would help my mother make homemade bread at easter time. The house would have the wonderful aroma of fresh bread baking in the oven. Now, I am teaching my children how to bake homemade bread and rolls to carry on the tradition of an almost lost art. "
