Trimmed about 900ish 223 cases with the WFT chucked in a corded drill.
Hope to have them all primed by end of day tomorrow and start filling them with H335 and 55g FMJ. |

Not a bad haul of them, either. My input is that I didn’t “do” anything with actual reloading yesterday. I’m waiting for a more precise powder funnel for dropping powder into 5.45mm cases since my RCBS funnel isn’t particularly precise with 5.56 cases, and I don’t want to spill powder while I’m making test loads. From my experience over the last few days in loading carefully weighed and trickled powder charges, I’ve decided I need to build a new shelf for my scale and trickler, which will also have a space for my GemPro 250 digital scale. The ergonomics and accessibility of the whole thing need a lot of work. I’ll integrate my video system in it too, so I can place the scale and trickler where my arm prefers them, rather than keeping the scale at eye level for reading. I did begin setting up my range trip to test a bunch of loads, though. Between weather forecasts, schedules and so on, I think I have it planned out. |

Thanks for the info Mr. Porter.
Those are M13 links, standard for NATO caliber machine guns. Not a bad haul of them, either. I shot the final, for now, iteration of the 200gr 35 Whelen SP’s. I was able to easily knock out the sporting clays at 125 yards, off the bi-pod. For a 50 year old hunting rifle, it shoots well. |

Bought a frankford arsenal seating die and tested in the 750 for 223.
Had to put lock ring on bottom. Set as low as it can go without contacting shell plate gives enough to load my 55s up through 77s. The micrometer and drop window for the bullet is the main reason I wanted to try it. Saw frankford arsenal running it in their 10 station so it must be ok for it. |
|
|
Fixed the seating stem in my Forster ultra micro seating die and loaded up 50 223 with 50gr frangible bullets and 25.0gr AA2520.
Seating die works fine again. 25gr with IMR4895 was too much of a compressed load with this bullet and flared the mouth of the seating stem. |
|
|
Loaded some test charges for 6.8 SPC using 110 gr Hornady BTHPs and A2200 powder. Hopefully I can find an accurate load.
I have 160 more of these projectiles, so I started chamfering cases in preparation for loading the rest. |

Finally!!! Got 800 pcs of Lapua 30-06 brass on order.

Not super productive numbers wise but they both caught on pretty quick and enjoyed it. |

Separated by primer size a bag of several hundred pieces of 45 Auto range pick-ups.
Ratio of LPP to SPP is about 2:1 SPP is as expected mostly Blazer and Federal but also a few Winchester. |

Yesterday I came across a container of .45 brass that said "some small primers" on it. So I went through and separated those out. Then I dug out the rest of my .45 stash and weeded out the small primer brass. That's a lot of cases, but those little primer buggers are easy to miss in a big pile of cases. I have somewhere around 70 SP cases set aside, from sorting over 1,300 cases overall.

I shot enough .223 to make up a batch for the tumbler. 260 cases purring along.
eta: Brownells charged my cc today for the 2K small rifle primers (magnum) I ordered a couple days ago. |

I went to Academy (San Antonio, Military & 410) because their web site said they had primers. Yeah, sure. In their "reloading" area, they had somewhere between "jack" and that other word on a small section of shelf; a handful of Hornady shell holders, some tricklers, a few other items. Two dudes behind the counter - one making a sale, the other shooting the breeze about how crappy gun shows around here are. I didn't even bother to ask about primers.
When I got home I ordered the Lyman Powder Pan funnel from Amazon. So much for supporting local businesses, I guess. (Academy's HQ is in Katy, TX.) |

Did an inventory of my 9mm target reloads and I'm down to 550 rounds. Time to hit the bench soon.
Before I dig into my supply of DG/BBI/Precision projectiles I have a 300ct bag of 124gr FMJ's...probably 'pulls' that I'll use first. Unfortunately those pills will have to be weighed to verify. |

My most hated task, sorted and cleaned about 12 months worth of spent brass in assorted calibers, argh!

After being disappointed in my search for pistol primers yesterday, I reviewed my stash of primers to see how bad off I was. Turns out that I’m NOT nearly out of pistol primers. One brick of small pistol primers is down to the last 3 boxes, but there’s another one right behind it that’s full. And another brick I had mistakenly read as small rifle primers (different brand, different label, etc.).
I also have several boxes of large pistol primers, taped together in sets of 5 for some reason, hiding behind a brick of rifle primers. Since I only load 2 calibers that require large pistol primers (.45 ACP and .45 Colt), I’m set. Whew! And I still have some “vintage” (early 1980s) primers I bought at the AAFES Garden Center store on Keesler AFB. For $1.89 a box. Sigh. Those were the days. I just wish I’d had real money back then. So anyway, I reorganized everything for better visibility, and finished happy. |

I’d been having issues with my Dillon 550 and small primers. I called Dillon support and they straightened me out. The plunger on the primer slide was too high and it was catching on the primer magazine. I adjusted it as they told me and now it runs like a champ.
I also rearranged my powder a little. I have more HP-38 and Win231 than I thought. Between the six pounds of that and 8lbs of Win 244 I’m not going to need fast pistol powder for a while. |

Took some 30-40 Krag reloads to the range, managed a few hits at 300 on full sized silhouettes after figuring out the hold at 100 and 200.
Will be keeping the brass happily segregated and won't touch the tool head, Labradar claims a single digit SD on these for a 5 shot string. First time stretching reloads that far, it was pretty damn satisfying. |
|
|
Got a set of Hornady 223 dies from the mailbox that I bought on the EE. Going to keep a set for my single stage and setup one on a progressive for my 55gr bulk loads.
|
|
|
Put up another shelf in my reloading room to hold the presses I'm not currently using.
Tumbled some 7.62x39 and .300 Blackout brass. Sorted and organized my primer stash. |
|
|
I made some empty brass, in order to get rid of old loads and do some practice in the meantime.
Attached File Then discovered that they needed to be trimmed and chamfered...don't remember failing to do that three years ago when I assembled them. So, I did what I could with what few primers I have left. |

Processed a tonne of .45 ACP that I turned into empty cases this past weekend and .223 that someone kindly left behind from their range trip.
I'm exceedingly happy with my .45 ACP reloads. Relatively light recoil compared to factory but powerful enough to cycle the action every time. I had settled on their load to use in steel challenge matches this past summer but my club cancelled them for a second straight year thanks to an unnamed virus of unknown origin. |

Yesterday was a range day. I took a bunch of 5.56mm test loads and made holes in paper while collecting velocity data.
I also finally got to use my nice front rest. Lots of adjustment, lots of flexibility, rock solid when I locked it down. Which showed me how no-so-good my rear bag - and probably my rear bag technique - really was. Clearly I need a much better bag, one that plays nice with the rear sling loop on an AR stock. Anyway, the brass gods demanded two factory cases from me, and one test load case rolled off the bench - in front of the line, of course. None of my rounds showed any particular indications of excessive pressure, especially compared to factory rounds, so I’m comfortable with them being safe. |

I bought .358 win dies because I lost my mind with how much fun the round is out of an AR10...straight hammer!!! At $1.75 a trigger pull though, it's a little painful to keep going...I don't currently reload, but I just might now. ...full disclosure, I have a set of 6.8SPC dies for the same reason...still don't reload. Off to find a press and then wait for components...they're on a boat in the Pacific, right?

Ordered 1k SNS 158 Coated SWC.
I hear the ghost of Elmer Keith calling to load .357's for my Pre Model 27. Been a while since I loaded for a revolver. This is going to be fun. |

Ordered an American Accurate collator for my APP and ACP.
Grabbed 1000 Cheddite 209 primers and a pound of AA 1680 at Sportsman's Warehouse at lunch. Also, my buddy called me last night and told me he has access to at least a thousand pounds of clean lead shot for $.50 per pound. I told him I'd take 200 lbs to start. We melted some and cast a bullet with it so I can check hardness later tonight. |
