Anyone get an approved/denied status yet?

pm sent.

Worst that will happen is they'll hold the money for a year and then send me a denied letter, right?

Did you efile the F1? Those are going through pretty quickly!

I've never filed a F1 (only F4s), hence, the pm to an actual lawyer.

I haven't seen it yet, but supposedly both a denial and an approval are in the mail.  ATF called and wants the approval returned immediately.

Interesting. Thanks for updating. I'd make a copy of the approval and frame it as a conversation piece.

That's the sort of thing I'd call Allen Gura over. I'd love their explanation of why they are denying it.

They even (supposedly) approved it first; so now it's the ATF revoking the previously approved stamped vs a flat denial.

You paid the tax, they acknolwedged that you paid it.   Then they immediately sent you a letter saying they changed their mind about you having paid the tax?

I'm reeeeally curious to see what the second letter says.

I'd say get in touch with a lawyer well-versed on NFA stuff immediately before you do anything.

ATF agent stated they denied first, then accidentally ran it a second time and approved it.  I recorded the call.  I haven't had time to check my audio (and won't until after work) but hopefully it came out well.

I'd be on the phone with the SAF or somebody else that is ornery, has money to burn, and has angry lawyers on standby wanting to kick ATF ass.

Anyone have SAF's contact information?  I'm not sure how keen they would be on a machinegun case given some of their Supreme Court arguments, but it's worth a shot.

Unfortunately I don't have enough money to hire a lawyer myself.  I'm not even sure if their is much a lawyer can do.

Yes, I sent a short cover letter and attached a copy of the ATF letter stating trusts were not persons.

The cover letter pointed out that per their own ATF letter trusts were not "persons" and therefore did not fall under 922o and as such please approve the Form 1 in accordance with the law.

I'll have to go back and find a copy of my original letter.  The ATF agent on the phone had no idea I had submitted a cover letter.

I did not recognize his name.  They have new examiners and I'm not familiar with all of them.  He didn't state that he was.

There are a few transferable M240s already. Although they run about $150,000 - $200,000

I have often thought that would cap the prices on transferables.  Once you hit a certain price, it is cheaper to become a dealer/manufacturer.  Play with stuff for a decade or two and move on.

Given the significance of this, if they actually sent you a stamp to build an MG I wouldn't be surprised if BATFE is sending agents to your local post office and/or to pull it out of your mailbox.
