Actually, it was a little cheaper, the parts are easy to get online or from any fabric store.

I love that rifle. That is exactly what I want. Too bad I can't find an Imbel carbine.

I've already posted these pics elsewhere, but they should be here too I guess.

Lightweight build.  DSA alloy: Lower, trigger guard, top cover, DSA stock and PG, H'guards '04 Imbel receiver, FSE M4 "lightweight" H/T/S.  Barrel was cut and turned by Moses to 14" and a Styer FH permanantly attached.  Barrel was also turned down to a M14 profile.  Gas tube was also cut, and I added a Schnider sling thingy.

Still needs a park job, but otherwise she's done.

well, I took off the sling thing, and replaced the DSA HG's with el cheapo century ones and put it on my bathroom scale, it showed just under 7#.  I need to find a good fish scale or other accurate scale to be sure though.  I think it will really be just over 7lbs when I weigh it again, but it is the lightest gun I own,  its even lighter than my father in laws M1 carbine.

Some kind of oversized selector DSA added to it.  I love it.  Very easy to flick from safe to fire and back again using just your thumb and not change your grip to do it.

DavidC - Looks great!  Can you post a closeup pic of your receiver and selector?  Thanks.  I'm trying to redo this one.  The wood is junk, but I have a brand new set of Isreali furniture all set to go.

Finally bought an FAL.  I was going to build one, but with the cost of the kits/receivers on the rise this one was a good deal.  It's a Bowman build.  I couldn't resist the FN shotgun either.

The Para started as a full stocked 16" rifle I bought second hand. I bought the Para lower from a guy on warrifles.com. The lower internals are all DSA.
The handguards are Penguin OD green and the pistol grip is a DSA SAW grip.
I threaded the muzzle for an L1A1 9/16x24 right hand thread flash hider. I like the L1A1 flash hiders so on it went.

It shoots great.

I'm in Clearwater.

Someone needs to post a picture of a "Space FAL" for me - you know, with the Tapco T48 handguards, Tapco SAW buttstock and Tapco SAW pistol grip.

Help me out, here!

Total Mutt, I put together in the back of my truck at work one day.  Lets see Austrian STG58 Barrel and Flashhider.  Imbel Gear Logo Receiver.  DSA HTS and Gas Piston.  Penguin OD green furniture with SAW grip.  ZA marked lower w/ original crappy paint.  Matching crappy paint top cover.  Indian safety/selector lever. Oh yeah and an Australian OD green L1A1 Carry Handle.  Tapco sling.

I'll do some more artistic stuff when I learn how to use a camera, but until then, here are some shots of my most recent build.  I might post a pic in the "post photos of your builds here" thread in AR-15 discussions, but they might get annoyed with me.  I'll see how I feel tomorrow.

Belgian Short Flash Hider
DSA 18.25" Para Barrel
DSA gas piston
DSA front handguards
Imbel Type III receiver
Tapco cocking handle
DSA Para scope mount dust cover
ARMS STANAG scope mount
Cheap Tapco scope (yeah, the mount costs more than the scope, shaddup)
DSA stripped para lower
DSA para breech block
DSA para stock (see mom, I got my compliance parts)
FN H/T/S so I can save my FSE for another build
pistol grip by Steyr, so I can save a DSA for another build

Comparison of a Colt R6500 to the Para FAL with 18" BBL:

Hmm, I've been wondering what to do with this shelf in my house:
