It had some nice normal wear marks on it. After I finished the lower I just put some wear on it to make it match the upper. Yes, the tear drop assist was the only assist used until some point in the late 70s I believe. Perhaps until the A2 uppers came out. |

I first ordered the PA Micro Red Dot, but the Advanced model has approx. a 50,000 hour battery life compared to 1000 hours, which is a big deal. I can leave it on, and be pretty certain the battery won't be drained whenever I need to use it. I'll change the battery annually though. Lower third would be around the top 6th hole from the end of the barrel? |

Lower 1/3 means when you look through the optic no matter where it is mounted on the rail, the red dot sits above the line of sight of your irons. Google "Lower 1/3" Cowitness". "Absolute cowitness" means the red dot will line directly up with the iron sights. As for the enhanced model, you did good. 50k hours is great. Just dont mount it that far forward on your rail and call it 1/3 witness. |

Got bored of "plain" black rifles, and a few weeks ago decided to build something fun without a budget. I wanted to go with a 14.5" (pinned/welded), keep it under 6 pounds with optic, but not make any reliability sacrifices to save weight. So its a light build, but I only cut weight where I could without giving something up. And although I had no budget, I didn't set out to just throw the most expensive parts at it that I could. Every part that went into the gun was hand picked to be exactly what I wanted, nothing overlooked.
I went with San Tan Tactical receivers because I liked the aggressive looks, and despite being billet, weren't THAT much heavier than a forged set. They were a bit heavier than is listed on their website, but still not bad. Lower AXTS Talon Ambi Safety AXTS Enhanced Takedown/Pivot Pins Geissele SD-C Trigger V7 Buffer Retaining Pin V7 Lightweight Buffer Tube V7 Lightweight Castle Nut MFT Minimalist Stock Phase 5 Sloped QD End Plate Spikes ST-T2 Buffer Sprinco Blue Buffer Spring Tactical Link PDW Grip Tactical Link Titanium Grip Screw Upper Ballistic Advantage 14.5" .223 Wylde Hanson Mid-length barrel w/ .625 pinned gas block Spikes Gas Tube SLR Helix 13.7" MLok Handguard SLR Synergy Titanium Mini Comp (extended) SLR Carbon Fiber Rail Panels SLR Grey Aluminum Crush Washer Odin Works B1 Handstop Strike Industries Lightweight Forward Assist Strike Industries Ultimate Dust Cover - Capsule Cryptic Coatings (Toolcraft) Mystic Black M16 BCG Agency Arms Raptor (AXTS) NiB Charging Handle Holosun / Primary Arms 503G Red Dot w/ ACSS Reticle SLR Red Dot Mount Total weight: 5 lbs 13.5 oz (without mag) All in all, stoked with it. I swapped out a few parts, kind of had trouble figuring out what grip to go with. I like the Magpul MOE grips, and because of the receiver's unique angle on the trigger guard, it was really uncomfortable. The Tactical Link PDW is a little better, but I'm not totally satisfied with that either in that regard. The only thing I'd probably really do differently is NOT use a titanium compensator. I picked this comp just to try to save a little weight, and give it a unique look, but should've just went with the standard version. I had a find a guy on Craigslist to do the welding, my gunsmith wouldn't weld titanium and others in town hadn't done it either. In the end, I paid a smith to drill and pin it, and then took it over to the welder I found on craigslist to tig weld with titanium. It worked out fine, but was one extra step (and $30 cost) that probably wasn't worth it. This is my first 14.5" AR, and I think its a HUGE difference in feel of the rifle. It's worth the hassle of pinning/welding (if not SBR'ing) for sure. Attached File Attached File Attached File Attached File |

Nice selection of parts. I've used alot of the same ones on some of my builds. I just picked up the TL Grip, but have yet to use it. If you dont like that, I'd suggest a BCM. Since you are doing a no-expense-spared build, you may want to try my absolutely favorite grip. They just feel so awesome in the hand. Executive Ordnance. The one that feels best to me is the stealth shaped G10 panels. They are spendy, but to me, worth it on a build like you just did. I have 4 of them. But my next fav is the BCM. |

Nice! Yeah I looked at those online, I'm not 100% in love with the looks of them plus they add a little weight, but in the end I think I'm going to give them a try. My local gun store is stocking them now, so I'll probably go fondle them when I get back in town.

Yes, I realize the front MBUS is backwards. Just making the most of the little top rail space. Built this pistol from scratch. Had a FDE SB-15, but decided to try the Shockwave Blade. Looks good. Works well. Had the adjustment screw get loose once. So a little dab of blue loctite will do ya. Hasn't had any more problems. |

This Ghost Gun lower was Aero Precision's response to CA. Senator DeLeon's ignorant comments about untraceable "Ghost Gun's" and how they can fire 30 rounds in a half second from a .30 Caliber Clip. Ha ha ha. Note the [D] for democrat I presume, in the safe position, ".30 caliber clip in the fire position and /Half Sec in what would be full rock and roll if I had select fire parts. Jerry Miculek actually did a funny video on You Tube with a ".30 caliber clip". I don't know how to do links, but if you google Jerry and .30 caliber clip you'll find his speed drill video. Funny shit! Guys got a good sense of humor. |
