I'd like to have a customize holster for my AR-15 pistol, Polish AK-47 underfolder, HK G3 with collapsable stock ... so I can carry them, may be all at the same time ... just kidding |

Sounds like you'd be better off buying a Para Ordnance P14. |

Get oly arms to sell you an upper in 9mm or .45 with a 7-10 inch barrel I know they make em... so why not! -jason |
You know they make em? Where? My email to Olyarms: Mr. Fletcher, I am in the process of building an AR pistol. I would like to know if you make your pistol caliber (.40) uppers in shorter lengths (6.5-7.5"). If so, would they be available through any of your dealers? Their reply: Sorry we only make them in the 223 caliber. Jared Balmer Domestic Sales Rep. Olympic Arms Inc. |
they make the pistol cal uppers for LEO SBR's.
buy an oly arms upper (no barrel) and make sure it has the ejector drilled and installed. then go to www.9mmar15.com/barrel.htm buy the 7.5' barrel and start a build. tada -Jason |
Just noticed that you can select the 11.5 barrel as an option for pistol cal upper.
Directly from the Oly Arms PDF. CAR Carbine 11.5” Barrel .............................$24.00 This is in addition to their normal price of the upper. -Jason |

Lots of stuff for the 9mm, but no .40 S&W... |
Sorry, dont mean to derail any current discussions, but i am wondering:
Why i havent heard more (if any) talk about 300 Whisper in a pistol?! Doesnt this round overcome the shortcomings of the 223 in a short barrel? I mean, yeah, in a 7-10" barrel, you'll still be throwing a ton of powder out the muzzle in a big fireball, but the whisper round is meant for a slower velocity... no? So, couldnt you take one of their supersonic rounds, fired out of a pistol barrel, and still retain decent man-stopping power? |
i'm still trying to figure out why everyone is so concerned with ballistics. In all honesty, how many of us ( i own several AR- pistols) will actually shoot someone with an AR-Pistol??? (if this situation ever arose, and i pray it doesn't) For the most part we all shoot at targets, paper, plants, trees(dead), fruit, and particles of air. If the occasion presented itself where I absolutely had to use my ar pistol in self-defense I would not hesistate to let whomever taste all 31 rounds if it was necessary. You can kill a human with a pellet rifle, and many people have lost their lives to a .22 cal. Instead of worrying about ballistics, worry about SHOT PLACEMENT. Wouldn't it be easier to tote around a .45 pistol with 12 or 13 rounds, and 2 extra mags

Does anybody have velocity figures from a 7.5" and 6.5" Barrel? I'm curious. Everybody keeps talking smack about how little energy this bullet has out of a short barrel but nobody's giving numbers!
From Bushmaster's site: Looks like even an 11.5" barrel is pumping out over 1000 foot pounds of energy. Also seems to me that if you're planning on killing them at 200 yards with a 16" barrel, that a 11.5" barrel will do as good or better job on your targets at pistol ranges. I think people are OVERESTIMATING the uses for this gun and UNDERESTIMATING its effectiveness. |

I agree whole heartedly. I haven't any ballistic data yet, other than what I've seen it do at the local gravel-pit, and having shot a lot of bullets in a lot of firearms, I can tell that it isn't anything I'd like to get shot with. Especially three or four times in rapid succession.
I think within pistol ranges it is perfectly capable of lethality. I would like to see valid data one way or the other. So far I base my assessment on shooting cans, logs, rocks and gravel. |

now if only i can get the buffer padding to install
Dang't Zamo, I just got a YHM handguard like that and thought I would be the first one to build a pistol with it...
Looks nice. |
Use hair spray. Sprits some inside the pad and slip it on. When it drys it helps the pad adhere firmly. To remove, just spray a little more in there and work it around a little--slips right off. |

Does anyone remember the ruling that put a weight restriction on pistols? The one that said ar15 pistols were illegal? Im trying to find out if it sunsetted w/ the AWB.

Shot the BM Carbon pistol tonight with the Vortex FS installed. It completely eliminates the flash.
One of the range guys tried it out and I had him use the stock BM muzzle brake after which I put on the Vortex. Being a spectater really let me see the difference. The Vortex wasn't as loud either. Still loud, just not as bad. I highly recommend the Vortex if you have the option. I'll try and get some pics of BM vs Vortex. Just have to figure out where and when. Also: Picked up a Millet reddot optic tonight. Installed but not sighted in yet. I'm able to co-witness with the irons using the rings that came with the optic so it might be a keeper. Keep you posted. |

I would think that a vorex would be mandatory on these things!
who has the best prices for them online? <blast 'em!> |
You can order one from the source, Smith Enterprise. I know they've got a batch going out next week, I've got another on order, but the entire lot might already be spoken for as they told me they can't seem to make them fast enough.

my parts came in and I finished my pistol last night . I'll try to get pictures in the next couple days 7.5 A3 pigtail gas tube
Fired five rounds with gemtech m4-96d suppressor (in the neighborhood) functioned flawlessly with the extra back pressure. Damn it's a sweet toy!! I can't wait to shoot it without the can next weekend |
i have been thinking and was wondering if anyone else has thought of this idea? at the end of the buffer tube why not get something that threads into the end cap that has like half a circle so the end cap is nice and round/smooth

UPDATE: See the Video! Pistol Bumping!
Took the ALMOST finished Pistol w/Bushmaster Buffer out for a little test firing. I got 300 rounds through it in 30 degree weather. The final tally? ZERO failures of any kind. In fact, it ran very well. So much so, I was a bit surprised and taken aback that this was my first attempt. I used only the Bushy Bolt and buffer system. If you look at the picture, there's an Alaskan takedown pin retainer attached to the right side. (duct tape) I had the pin just loose in there without a retainer but after about 6 magazines it fell out. I dug through the snow for about 2 minutes to find it. After 210 rounds, I bumped three magazines in a row, again with no malfunctions of any kind. If you're looking for a system that will work, I think this one will do very nicely. I still plan to cut down a standard bolt carrier for comparrison and I'll put the used Bushy bolt carrier up on the EE with a complete kit so somebody else can build a pistol. I like the idea of having a bolt carrier that will work with the ejection port cover. If I had this gun to build from scratch again, though, I'd probably use a DPMS low-pro upper without the ejection port cover and forward assist. The gun's still not done. I've got a 4-40 tap and a set screw to install the spring and detnet to retain the takedown pin. I've also got a DPMS 4-rail front sight base coming. This will clear way for my Aimpoint scope. I'm also putting a single point sling swivel right below the buffer. It'll be placed so that I can push away and hold the gun under tension on the sling for accuracy and stability. Dropping it should let it hange free. Once again, make sure you take a gander at the video here: Video of me bumping a full mag from my pistol build. Bonus Video... Wonder what's about to happen? And a picture of my Alaskan takedown pin retainer. Hey, it worked! |

UPDATE: Just finished cleaning my pistol. On the way home from the range, I stopped by the Hardware store and bought a 4-40 set screw. I got the shortest one they had. Took my 4-40 tap and threaded the hole only as far as I felt I needed to. Blew out the chunks of aluminum and cut the spring off a length equal to the length of the set screw. Installation was a breeze. I put the set screw on the end of an allen wrench and used that to push the spring in and start the set screw in the new threads. I added a drop of loc-tite on the started screw and then tightened it flush with the rear of the receiver. Works like a charm. No cheezy block clamp, no cheesy anything... flush fitting, clean, and LIGHT.
Next step: Sling swivel. That'll have to wait till another day though. Good shooting. |
