It is spectacular with subsonics, everything you could want it to be, and I love it,  with a few annoyances:
1) Handguard gets hot!
2) VFG/handstop  has to go far back, the MLOK after about 4 inches is all blocked by the can, so no slick light mounts, the Unity mini hub was the best solution I found after about 6 different mounts
3) Recoil is very sharp with supersonics, as mine is tuned to subs
4) buttstock is a little delicate feeling. The Sig Rattler collapsible stock is a huge chunk of steel and aluminum, suitable for beating down doors, the Honeybadger not so much, no issues so far, but I wouldn't use it for a hammer.

I’m looking at either doing the sbr with short handguard and my own can or a pistol so the mounts solution should b a little easier but all good info.

Thanks.

What ball/head mount are you using off the tripod?

Manfrotto MHXPRO-BHQ2 X-pro Ball Head.  Love the very sensitive adjusters on it.  Easy to move very small increments if needed.  It can handle up to 22lbs.

My freshly built 300. I shot it for the 1st time yesterday. Too bad I only had 20 rounds with me. I Pinned and Welded the barrrel myself. It's a 14.5 barrel with SI Venom flash hider.

I have a 300 Black Out rifle build coming soon, I just ordered a 16 inch SS Barrel with a 1-8 twist.
I'm wondering how the feed ramps handle the polymer tip ammo? I heard a few incidents that the polymer tips get caught in the feed ramps? Any info. regarding this is greatly apricated.

Thanks

16" heavy barrel 1/8 twist.
Larue MBT two stage trigger, bravo company lower parts kit. I didn't know if I would like the 300blk but I've got another lower that I think is going to be a pistol. Still looking but these pictures are giving me some good ideas.

Anyone with a BCM 9” with QRF rail upper? I finally got a chance to shoot a 300 this past weekend and I’m sold.

SR30 is my first choice to with the rest of my KACs but 🤷🏼‍♂️

Also totally digging the URX4 DSR type builds and I would entertain this to match my CQBs but loosing that much mounting surface and with the heat issues seems like it’s probably more headache than it’s worth.

Upper is 2A Balios Lite I believe. Handguard is a Nordic NCT4 which was unfortunately only made for a very short time to my knowledge.

@Paladin556 not QRF but my keymod is a good shooter. the QRF rails look pretty legit, IMO you can buy with confidence. Full disclosure I have several BCM guns so I’m admittedly partial to them.

What length barrel shall this newborn get?

Thinking between 8"-9"... Will be running it suppressed 99.99999% of the time
The LGS ordered me an FDE Aero lower instead of the black one... Guess I gotta rattle can it when it's done lol
And whichever rail I choose... I want it to be either even with the barrel, or just slightly longer (like a half inch)

Aero lower....I'd go with an 8.3" BA with one of the wide Aero 9" rails so a 1.5" suppressor fits inside..

M4E1 upper as well, heh.

Is 8.3" like the optimal length for Subs?

So many nice rail systems to choose from... I kinda wanna go with an Intermediate length PRI Gen III round handguard (9")

But yeah, a 9" rail with an 8.3" bbl would be perfect. 😎😎😎

[Last Edit: swampvol] [#40]
I think optimal length is too subjective. A lot has to do with what your plans are for the pistol/sbr.

If it's shooting subs, you can definitely go shorter, or longer, but I'd want a faster than 1/7 twist if going 7" or less, especially if shooting the longer subs through a suppressor.

8"-10" is the sweet spot for 300 supers and subs, IMO.
