He is correct. Blackout should be 9”. That’s what it was designed for. I’ve ran 6.25”,7”,9”, and 12.5”. 9” is perfect.

When you say perfect, what exactly do you mean? Ballistically? Functionally? I'm looking into getting a 6" barrel.

Thank you in advance.

@overthrow98

I got 17-11/16” on a 10.3 5.56.

Both. Look at the ballistics on supersonic 110gr vs 77gr 223 not all that more impressive if you go over 9” and if you go below it’s almost like what’s the point.

If your strictly shooting subs then go as short as possible.

So based on looking at the numbers, a 110 gr in a 6" barrel in 300 BO delivers 860 ft lbs of energy whereas a 10" barrel shooting 77gr 223 delivers 883 ft lbs of energy. The velocity in the 300 BO was somewhat conservative at 1877 fps, especially if you reload. Of course, I don't have any real world data yet and that's really all that matters.

9” 300 shooting 110gr Tac TX at the muzzle has 1150 ft/lbs of energy.

You lose 100ft/lbs per inch going from 9”-6”

Just for comparison...

16” 5.56 shooting 77gr TMK at the muzzle has 1130 ft/lbs of energy.

This is why 9” is the best length for 300 in my opinion.

So sorry, I didn't see this question until just now!

Its a Modern Carbine MC6. I don't know if they sell receivers and handguards separately.

Finally finished up with both my builds.

10.5 inch Faxon barrel with Faxon enhanced upper. Used almost exclusively suppressed with subs and my 9" Thunderbeast for maximum suppression as a home defense gun.

9 inch Faxon Match barrel with Faxon enhanced upper, Adam Arms adjustable micro piston kit w/ lightweight carrier. Normally use it with my 7" Thunderbeast for compactness with supers and subs as a truck gun.

Got this as soon as I received an email it was available.  Switched the brace and charging handle.  Only changes thus far.  Haven't even shot it yet, although my first 1K rounds of sub just came in..

I called and asked the same thing as soon as they were announced.  Needed another AR in 300BLK so just bought the whole thing.   Brother has a can coming in any day now so i'm excited to do some sub with the omega 300.

Yeah, just pricey, and I don't like the clamp tabs on the bottom if I can avoid them.  Purely aesthetics...
ALG also has similar options, but I don't think they make the short ones in MLOK.

I hear you on asthetics, its the little details that sometimes drive us crazy.  Tell you what tho, SLR Rails are a breeze to install, and they are light.

Just got the barrel in and its mocked up, not torqued just yet (need to get to the shop for that).

Waiting on a can, Specwar 762, and then the 300 will get its own dedicated can eventually.

Its a build for the wife, I built the 308 for me, but I know I am going to get a lot of fun out of this guy!

@Rob01

It's a Q 7" Honey Badger barrel with a 9 or 9.5" Nordic NCT4 rail. Unfortunately the rail was only made for a short period of time which is a bummer because there aren't many options for handling a 1.75" OD can.

Rifle season started Saturday here in MO for deer.  I hunt in the woods and about 100 yards is the longest shot I'd have to take, usually much closer like 40-60 yards.  So I thought I'd get some appropriate ammo and give my 300 AAC BLK a shot at being my deer rifle...  I picked up some 150 Grain Winchester Deer Season XP. (pretty clean BTW)  Re-zeroed, and took a couple shots on steel Friday.  It hits pretty hard.  Unfortunately, I only saw a small doe and a little 4 pointer. which I let go.  I plan on getting back out this week a few more times.  Hopefully better luck then.

Breakdown:
1- 8.5” unknown barrel with a 9” unknown handguard on a palmetto upper and pistol lower with an sb brace. Primary red dot and light. Loves my 180 gr subs out to about 100 yards.

2-16” bear creek barrel with a 15” unknown handguard on a palmetto upper and rifle lower with an a2 stock. Cabelas 4-16 scope. This gun will shoot 500 yards all day long on a 12” gong with Walmart bought Remington 120 gr ammo.

3-16” Ruger American ranch in a Boyd’s pro varmint with a hawke optics 4-16 scope. Almost quiet like Hollywood with slow subs and the can.
