Picked one up for a low-end build for the truck and was astonished just how bulky/ heavy it was. Good upper otherwise...but goodness it weighs a lot! yes they are. youd think it'd just be a standard upper with no fa or deflector but they overbuilt it for some reason. anyway, the whole rifle is a pig so whatever They are made from extrusions rather than forgings or billets (CNC are make from billet). And they don't fit regular upper vice blocks (ask me how I know ). |

My humble AR collection:
1) My first AR, an A1 build from about 20 years ago, using a Sarco USGI parts kit and an Olympic Arms lower receiver. I'm pretty sure all the parts are Colt, although I can't remember why I think they are: http://i1087.photobucket.com/albums/j473/dpd3672/AR%20Builds/DSC_0002_zps20d283d4.jpg And my two recent builds. I wanted a carbine, but the more I researched them, the more torn I was between a true carbine and a midlength. Then I had trouble deciding on optics (Aimpoint vs Eotech vs ACOG vs a good variable power glass scope, so I decided to build one of each. My first is a PSA midlength with an Aimpoint PRO and a MBUS: http://i1087.photobucket.com/albums/j473/dpd3672/AR%20Builds/DSC_0008_zps9102b63e.jpg?t=1370532624 Second is a PSA carbine with an Eotech 511 and MBUS: http://i1087.photobucket.com/albums/j473/dpd3672/AR%20Builds/DSC_0023_zps89c380dc.jpg I've got a couple Surplus Arms lowers on deck for the next two builds. Gonna go with an ACOG and a good optical scope, leaning toward one of the Nikon M series, although I'm still researching them. I ordered a couple of the PSA LBK+BCG for $199.99 today, so I just need a couple uppers and the optics. http://i1087.photobucket.com/albums/j473/dpd3672/AR%20Builds/3e0857fa-92b1-4d20-8f3b-29b333ddf64a_zps8e7ae6d0.jpg?t=1370533059 |
