PRICE BARRACKS, Belize - Soldiers assigned to 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne) prepare to enter a room in order to conduct room-clearing tactics during Exercise Fused Response 2014 in Belize City, Belize, March 13, 2014. The U.S. Southern Command-sponsored exercise, executed by the Special Operations Command South, is designed to improve SOCSOUTH's capability to respond effectively to time-sensitive contingencies, as well as to enhance interoperability, tactics, and training techniques between U.S. SOF and the Belize Defense Forces. (U.S. Army Photo by Staff Sgt. Roman Madrid, 241st Mobile Public Affairs Detachment)

A U.S. Army Special Forces weapons sergeant, 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne), informs a U.S. Marine on the current situation while providing security during a Tactical Recovery of Air crew and Personnel exercise, March 15, 2014. The exercise inserted Marines and Green Berets into an area by helicopter to locate and evacuate two simulated downed pilots.

Sgt. Matt Dorman, joint terminal attack controller, 2nd Battalion, 10th Marine Regiment, and a soldier with 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne), brace for the impact of a cloud of sand and rocks caused by the landing of a CH-53 Super Stallion during a Tactical Recovery of Air crew and Personnel exercise, March 15, 2014. The Marines and soldiers provided security in pairs while the simulated downed pilots were escorted onto the aircraft.

Cool to see someone still rocking a CIRAS as well, though plate carriers, like the eagle PC/MBAV's that most of them are wearing, are obviously more popular these days.

That picture is incredible. Words like "determination" and "dedication" barely scratch the surface.

From my recollection, that picture is from when they went to recover the bodies of Mike Murphy, Danny Dietz, and Matt Axelson, not from the rescue of Marcus Lattrell.

No way in hell the Duke used a safety implement such as a rubber band; probably had his hanging by the spoon, untaped, and without the pins folded over. At least that guy has his spoon taped.

It is one of the least public Special Forces in the world. First ever insight was this year when a newspaper called DN could follow them on a small training.
The army did of course make sure nothing they didn't want to be written was made public.

They were first caught on tape 2008 in Chad while doing recon missions in preperations for a EUFOR mission.
At the time SOG was actually two groups called SSG and SIG but they were merged. This is the only video of them.

There is no official gear for them and they tend to blur some of the equipment. FM (the army) have only made a few pictures public and they are very dark and you can't really see anything.

I am however unsure about this soldiers nationality. It looks like he has a Danish flag from what I can see but has Swedish M90 camouflage.
The army is usually very strict with what they do with the uniforms so I’d doubt they’d sell it to another army.

To the question regarding his "sepcial unit" background, weren't these helocopters purchased from the Russians and used exclusively by the CIA for covert ops?

I know that's not definitive proof, but it leads you in a certain direction...

Just about any that covers the entire ear will be both ear-pro and comm.  the most common versions are the Peltor comm-tac (a few different models) and by a company called Sordin.  I think MSA also makes some.
