It is always interesting to see how people react to something they hold important. I am of the belief that it should be local control. This coming from someone that lives in the dry half of a wet county, and formerly of a blending bottling facility.

Of course, I am more about removing as much control from centralized locations as possible. If a local populace wants to lose revenue from alcohol, more power to them. And vice versa, if a local populace wants to have easier access to alcohol, start the party.

My neck starts to stiffen when people start to "tell me" what's best and what I need when they don't know or even car about me. To steal from today's PC language, that is bullying. And bullying from the confines of government is probably the most despicable and cowardly way to do it.

IMHO

A bunch of Bible thumpers from seventy years ago don't have the right to tell people how to live their lives based on their twisted and incorrect interpretations of a religious doctrine.

If those against alcohol don't want to consume it then they're free to not consume it, but have no place telling other people that LEGAL products can't be used by others.

We don't need any delusional Carrie Nation type of fools trying to push their beliefs onto others.

Don't you, though?

I'm all for prohibition.  Keep you bunch of drunks from getting riled up, babbling on about your guns and NASCAR, peddling your pornography to and fro like a bunch of heathens.  The Lord will cure you, yet, and hellfire if we won't help Him.

The Feminist movement had the most to do with it.

Other than that I agree with you... I posted a rhetorical question in this thread asking what else we should control locally... Apparently only alcohol fits the bill.

Just think, if alcohol hadn't been banned by the 18th Amendment then people in the U.S. may actually use real race tracks instead of ovals.

Actually the gun laws began earlier.   Think Jim Crow!   But really gun laws have been slowly creeping in since the wild west days.   Post war(s) saw an increase due to available "war" arms.    Civil war = Jim Crow.  WWI = first NFA laws.  Prohibition had an effect here as well.
