I am posting this from another forum I am part of. This will be our first attempt at a Military Vehicle rally.

Rally Info

Anyway, I am going to try a "get together" / Rally this year. Door prizes (for vehicles present), hats (for vehicle owners bringing a vehicle), meal, cruise, scavenger hunt, military museum tour and anything else I can come up with between now and then.

Location: Atlantic, IA
Date: 16 May 2015

I expect about some of the "local folks" will bring their vehicles. That is everything from Mules to Tanks.
I am making a list and will send out emails (my preferred method) as more information becomes available.

I had a discussion with the Police Chief this morning about this. He said he is willing to stop traffic and escort us through the town on our "cruise". I expect most of us are on good terms with our local law enforcement. If you are not, you should be. It makes "things" easier.

To all of you folks that are looking forward to your first rally, me too. This will be my first one, too. If you have any ideas, let me know. I will try and make it happen.

One thing that is very important is a "registration / reservation" as soon as you can. I am the President of the local 501.c3 organization that owns the former National Guard Armory here in town. My plan is to have the rally at the Armory, because - you know - it is an Armory. Anyway, the parking for the military vehicles and any "civilian vehicles / trailers" might be a little tight. If we get too many, I will most likely move it to the fairgrounds.

Oh, and I have already ordered hats. I can order more, if I need to. I just need to know an approximate attendance. Hats are for the vehicle owners - not especially for the vehicles - cuz I know some vehicles are owned by you and "the better half". At the BA-DA BA-DA BING BANG RALLY, all owners get a commemorative hat. Oh, and there is also the headcount for food.

Sorry about the scheduling conflict with the findley show. There are only so many days in the year and in Iowa some of them are really cold.

Anyway, I hope this will work out for us. It should be fun. Don't forget to let me know what you think we should do at our rally.

I will be there with my 1986 M1009.
If you do or don't have a Military Vehicle, it should be a good time for the family to see some cool stuff and have some fun either way.

Feel free to send an email with any questions. [email protected] or post in the steel soldiers thread.

I'll probably go. Depends which trucks are running at that time, but probably a M1009 at least.

I haven't checked SteelSoldiers forever, I'll post up.

There will be a tour of the old armory in Atlantic featuring the WW2 soldiers that deployed from there. Those bringing a MV we are planning a cook out and plans are in the works for a little barder, sell of MV stuff. Gas cans, medical kits, ext.

I wonder if Mike will be there w/his Weasel.  He's a big firearm collector also.

There are currently 11vehicles registered and fifteen owner / operators registered. I am still waiting on a response from some of the "local folks".

I can't emphasize enough the issue of the available space. The intended location will work - if the numbers aren't too large. If we have more, I am pretty sure I can get the fairgrounds - but I can't do that at the last minute. So, PLEASE get those registrations in as soon as possible. A pleasent experience for all depends on accurate numbers early - food, parking, hats, etc, etc, etc.

It looks like the city's "electronic recycling" will be conducted the weekend before the RALLY, so that will change things some - more parking available / possible less public exposure (I will probably have to spend more time on the radio and in the newspaper to get the word out.)
