I are headed to Florida later in March and will be staying in Cleremont.  I want to head over to a beach for he day.  Is there one you guys would recommend to go to?  Either Gulf coast or Atlantic coast would be fine.  One that is not overrun with college kids would be good.  Lunch close by is a plus.

Thanks!

If you want a fairly quiet beach, try Caladesi Island on the gulf coast.

It is only accessible by private boat or the public ferry which runs every 30 mins or so.

New Smyrna Beach, take the south causeway for about 7-10 miles. Its on the right.

+1 for Canaveral National Seashore.

They have GREAT camping there too.  All the sites can only be accessed by water craft.  IIRC, canoe rentals are $20~25 a day and the sites are like $10~15 a night.

You guys are insane. The gulf near the Tampa/clearwater area will have much nicer beaches.

Definitely check out Caladesi or Honeymoon Island.  Then hit Frenchy's on Dunedin Causeway.

I have a weakness for Frenchy's!

The wife and I go almost every week.
