So, my "grenade pin" failed at holding the hammer spring back, and now it's all uncompressed. How difficult is it to recompress this spring so that the firearm can be reassembled?

Nevermind. A quick grip allowed me to recompress the spring! YAY!

There ya go.  I did the same with a win 9422 hammer spring.  I used a vise with a couple pieces of hardwood slotted for the strut.  I learned my lesson and googled it and learned to use a finish nail to hold things together.
