My search fu isn't great, but every load I find for 300 AAC is for 16" barrels.  I just finished putting together a 8.5" 300 AAC SBR and want to start reloading.  I'm thinking of 125gr using AA1680.  Anyone have any data?

I get really good results with 18gr of  H110 under 125gr Nosler BT.  2000fps out of my 8.5 and 2200 fps out of my 16"  both shoot really good groups.

I don't think AA1680 is the best choice. My H110 loads darn near fill all available space, and with 1680 being a slower powder I'd guess you run out of space before you reach good velocity.

I've had good luck with Hornady 125SST and 18.8 grains of H110 (a bit over max be careful) or 19.1 grains of Lil'gun.  Lil'gun gives better velocity. Accuracy is pretty close with both loads.  2.12" OAL.  Both loads are pretty hot work up carefully.

Typically in loads for the AR15 platform, 1680 is used for subsonic loads and H110/W296 is used for supersonic loads.  When loading for other platforms, there are other choices that will work (4227, Lil'Gun, etc.).

Imr4227 also has the same burn rate as h110 and w296.

Pretty sure ADI make the imr4227 same as the h110

Thanks again for the info.

One more: Hodgdon's reloading site lists 110, 4227 and 296 all with Magnum Small Rifle Primers.  Why Magnums?

I use ccibr4 primers in my blackout only coz I use ccibr4 in my comp rifles in 223 and 6.5x47 so I wasn't going to spend another $90+ on another 1000 count of primers.
