Glocks are my cheapest guns, and I like'em a lot.

Not my favorite pistols, HK takes that slot, but my Glocks are well loved.

Another vote for the vz2008...one of my favorite rifles. Of course I have spent far more modding it then I paid for it but that's only because I like it so much.

Got a tokarev for about 200 bucks that is a real joy to shoot.

Grand power p1mk7 I like better than my p226 and I paid about 1/3 of what the sig cost for it.

I have a MPA M11 somewhere that turned out to be a ton of fun to shoot.

Got it for $100 and it was threaded 1/2x28 so why not

I picked up a used MPA M30T in 9mm for $100. It is very reliable, uses cheap STEN mags and is really fun to shoot. Nothing really practical about it but I enjoy it. I was "pleasantly surprised".

One of these.

Feels sorta like a cross between a USP and a CZ75.

I very much like the idea of a steel-framed USP, since it gets around my only real complaint about the USP in the first place; polymer frames and my hands don't agree.

I think I paid $325 OTD for mine.

If I could get a holster made for it (since the one that comes with it is literally worthless) it would replace my 1911 for summer carry, since the finish takes sweat a whole lot better than the park on my 1911 does.

Plus 16+1 of 9mm is pretty nice compared to 9+1.

I bought one of these for $150.00 back in 1997. I've put 1,000+ rounds through it, and it has jammed 3 times. All of which I believe were from limp wristing it.

Haha I find it comfortable but the grip is a little short and my pinky finger rides the mag butt plate.  325 flawless rounds through the first one. Haven't fired the second one yet.

I've always felt that Chinese AK's are some of the best AK's you can get. They were an amazing value back when you could get them for $199.

It's not really good if you've got more money to spend (I'm looking at you, Glock trade-ins), but for the cheapest beater you could imagine, it could be much worse.  I expected Jennings-style function and reliability, but if you can get past the brick-style weight and ergonomics, they're accurate, reliable, and not finicky, at a price even a child with an allowance can afford.  At least that's been my experience with a limited number of them from a few years ago.

I've had to change out all of my 8 round mags for mine.
The pistol will run 100% only with reduced round counts in the mags.
Two mags would only work with 5 round or less while the other two would run when loaded with 7 or less rounds.
And this was with Remington yellow box and Tula steel cased 115 grain FMJ. Ironically, it ran better with the Tula.

It wasn't mine, but a guy at the range was using a Winchester "Wildcat" .22 rifle with a cheap POS 4x15mm bb gun scope on it to shoot cloverleaf groups at 25 yds. Group after group after group.

If he paid full retail he didn't have  $200 tied up in it.

Yugoslavian commercial mausers

The Zastava Mauser and Mini Mauser rifles, under whatever name they have bene sold under (Interarms Mk X and Mini Mark X, Charles Daly, Remington 798 and 799, and Zastava M70 and M85) are great buys and superb performers.

I've owned Interarms Mk Xs in .243 and .308 and both were MOA capable rifles.  I own a pair of .22 Hornets, one a Rem 799 with it's composite stock as well as a Zastava M85 with the original stock replaced with a Rem 799 stock, and both are sub MOA rifles, one shooting 1/2 MOA groups and the other shooting 3/4 MOA groups.

I have a new M85 in .223 arriving this week and I fully expect it to be MOA or better as well.  Not bad for $390.   It will go into a NOS Interarms stock from Sarco adding another $80 to the price, but it's still a great deal.

The wood CAI is currently ordering on the M70s and M85s isn't bad, but it's poorly finished with the checkering incomplete and finish has all the charm of shoe polish.  But the metal work, as always is superb with excellent polish and a very deep blue finish.  The hammer forged barrels are also exceptionally smooth, durable and superbly stress relieved giving excellent accuracy with no tendency to walk as the barrel heats up.

On the left is a Zastava M85 in .22 Hornet in the original stock,  and on the right is a Rem 799 in .22 Hornet.  The 799s used a shorter 20" barrel with no front sight, and eliminated stock, but are otherwise identical:

FEG P9s and first generation P9Ms

The P9 is a very faithful Mk I Hi Power clone and the first gen P9M is the same pistol with a different slide release and 3 dot sights.

Both are very well made, particularly in the polished blued versions, with good accuracy and excellent reliability, for about a third the price of an FN Hi Power.

FEG P9 on the top, FN Hi Power on the bottom:

FEG AP and APK seriespistols

The FEG AP9S and AP7S pistols are steel framed Walther PP copies with slightly heavier frames and slides in .380 ACP and .32 ACP respectively.   The APK9S and APK7S are steel framed Walther PPK/S copies in the same calibers.   Finish varies by importer but the Interarms imported models are exceptionally well finished, accurate and very reliable.  They sell for around $350-$400 in as new condition.

Interarms imported APK:

CZ99 Precision

This is a Zastava made .22LR both action.  They sell for around $199 and like the other CAI imports the wood on them is no well finished, but like the M70 and M85 Mausers, the metal work is superb.   Remington imported them as the Remington Model 5, and you can still find new Remington laminated stocks to drop them in.

This.

I traded a sealed can of M-855 straight across for a brand new bersa thunder back when the ATF was going to ban them.

That little fucker shoots like a laser, refuses to jam, has almost no recoil, and is just comfortable as hell to shoot. My wife loved it and she's not a gun person.

More honorable mentions

Marlin XL-7 in .270.  In a world where there are thousands of new bolt actions coming out daily it's easy for a good one to get overlooked. I got mine at a pawn shop for$150 LNIB. Great rifle.

Remington 714 single shot .22--- Scary accurate, super light weight and easy to maneuver in the woods. I bought it for my sons first squirrel rifle but I use it more than he does. $90 NIB.

Ruger P series pistols. You just can't break them.

We tried HARD to make one choke last summer after a friend bought one for less than a bill.  It got fed all the remnants of boxes of range 9mm and functioned fine until it started not going back fully into battery because of the layers of carbon.  Blasted it out with some brake cleaner (its a Hi-Point, why not?) and it chugs along.  It is impressive, if you keep your expectations low!

The trigger on the other hand.....SUCKS.  HUGE.
