Cut and crown is done. The smith did a great job, looks like it came from the factory that way. Put a snap on hi viz front sight on for now but this shoots about 6" low at 30 yards, will need to work out the sighting arrangement for field work. Still torn between scout scope, red dot or conventional low power scope. The last will take more work as this is a 90 degree bolt throw.
If I chose irons, I suppose I could just add a higher rear sight and be done. A 10/22 rear will fit the dovetail and give the needed height, if I install the rail, I will lose the rear sight dovetail, but with the red dot, I could use that as the backup rear sight for the snap on front.
This week I will replace with the smaller light pipe on the front to see if that lowers the front sight plane enough to be on for elevation with the existing rear.
Overall groups however were very tight with Winchester value pack foster slugs. Very pleased with this and have always had good results with these in smooth bore cyl choke guns.
