Usually the metal plate that engages the detent ball gets worn. The safety is  easy to replace. Buy a metal one from Brownells and replace it. Vang makes a good oversize safety also.  If you need any help replacing it shoot me an email.

I think pointing you towards a superior platform is a BIG help

And yeah, they are more $ than a mooseberg, but there must be some little old lady who needs you to take her lunchmoney!

Actually, that new Mooseberg 930 looks to be a nice gun for ~$600. I've shot one, and liked it a lot. But that safety issue would concern me, if its the same as on the pumps.

I'm convinced that the guys who tout pump shotguns as being the most reliable home defense systems haven't shot them very much.

Yep, you would have a short tube with the p-grip to be postban compliant w/ a semi. I'd just get the straight stock for a new gun.
