All I can tell you is what I was told, and Im sure if someone looks into it, everything can be confirmed. Some Special Operations group ordered a bunch of STI Tacticals, made to their specs. These are Hi-cap .40 1911's with adjustable night sights and no extended magwell. They came with an 18 round mag. Some of the guns were returned, and STI sold out of the QUICK! My boss is military 1911 fan and decided to pick one up. Pictured here is one of his military Colt 1911 from 1913. This Colt is in AMAZING shape considering it is nearly 100 years old. My STI rep was in disbelief at its condition. So were the rest of us. A little old and a little new; http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3161/2731374151_2d5e528810_b.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3199/2732204068_8e69766584_b.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3043/2732204530_beb0663182_b.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3296/2732205952_b888259a21_b.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3190/2732205078_fa41b1604f_b.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3042/2732205568_869a50810a_b.jpg That LW16 is apparently the rack code or something like that? Anyway, pretty interesting set of pistols no matter how you look at it. This is true, I had the pleasure of speaking with the Dave Dawson himself a about two weeks ago and he mentioned that the special forces tested these things as a possible new sidearm (as im sure they have tested every other new firearm that has come into production) and the rumor is that although the guns left the factory straight and ready to run, they ran into problems during usage in field conditions because the military armorers werent trained or qualified to perform maintenance and repairs on the 2011 guns. Anyhow, I trust mine plenty for patrol use... but then again im not jumping out of planes and crawling around in sand, mud, dust, ect. |

All of them. |

I'm at Shot right now and have ordered some pretty sweet guns and some new style VZ grips. I haven't checked yet but John told me VZ has a new sight up which has more grips and options listed. Some of the new stuff looks great. As soon as I get home I'll put pics of some new stuff that's arrived. There's a standard Wilson CQB, a used Nighthawk Dominator that's diamond black over hard chrome, a new GRP Recon that's 100% diamond black with a threaded barrel (it's sick!!) a new Kimber and I think a Colt has
come in. Check out VZs updated site: www.vzgrips.com |

I liked that it had no MIM, I have always liked the way the slim grips felt in my hand. The grips definitely have an aggressive feel to them, and I like that too. It is pricey, and while I am not arguing it isn't worth that price, I feel like they may have a hard time selling many when most people with that amount of money in their hand wont be thinking "Dan Wesson". I'm also am curious to see how it might hold up in a humid place like FL. The stainless does not seem to have any coating over it, and the sand/bead/whatever blast that's been done makes it seem like it might be porous and possibly prone to rust. Please understand I'm not a metal guy, WTH do I know about metal? Not a lot, that's what. I can only comment on things that I have seen, and I have seen this many times with matte blasted stainless AR barrels. Having said that; There's a few Kimbers that run in this same price range. I think I'd rather have this V-bob than those Kimbers, and I say that as someone who owns a Kimber. |

Sorry I missed this! As I understand it, the Springfield Pro's are considered to be one of the very best semi-custom guns available. I can't say that I know what makes it different to be regarded as a more desirable gun though? The very aggressive 20 LPI checkering on the front strap and MSH keep some people from buying it though.

Ugh, I can't believe how long it's been since I've posted. Sorry. I'm sure to have missed a few guns that have come in and sold, but here's some pics I do have. I'll start with my own. The following are the three 1911's I own, I've recently acquired this one from Dave Erickson at Condition One. My friend Mers and I went to Dave's place in July. We showed up with a unfinished slide and frame from Nighthawk Custom and a bag of parts and got to work building a 1911 more or less from scratch. There's a pretty big thread HERE that documents the trip and our building the gun and a lot more pictures of the finished product. It's interesting to watch. The gun turned out amazing and is exactly what I wanted.
Next is my fairly custom Kimber Desert Warrior. Chuck Rogers of Rogers Precision did the dimple work for me. Our very own SGB replaced all the MIM parts with Ed Brown and Wilson HardCore parts, as well as working the trigger. I have had this gun for years, and it is pictured earlier in the thread. This is the gun I usually train with and the many, many hundreds of draw strokes from a kydex holster destroyed the finish over the years. When I finally stripped it completely down one day, I saw some rust starting to accumulate on the frame and MSH. I decided to get it refinished and sent it off to Ion Bond to try their new dark earth finish. Got it back and it's quite awesome. Finally is my Nighthawk Talon II. When I ordered this gun, I asked for their Diamond Black finish. This was before most of the places like Wilson and Nighthawk were shipping guns with black triggers or barrels, so mine came with a stainless barrel, bushing and trigger. While sending my Kimber off to Ion Bond, I also sent those three parts to be Ion Bonded black. Now there's no silver on the gun at all. I'm really pretty happy with the change in appearance. Now onto some new guns which are actually on the shelf! Springfield is up first... Champion GI Used Parkerized GI came in LW Champion Operator MC Operator Used MC Operator came in, single sided safety and Gunner Grips TRP, 20 LPI anyone? Guy bought a special edition Colt that was, I believe, polished hard chrome. We also had a pair of Houge Aluminum grips that, while not my style, I knew someone would love. This customer did. His gun and grip choice were not at all what I like personally, but I'll admit, if this is your thing (and it was his), it's kind of cool. Now for some Kimber. I'll start with what I think is their nicest model; Gold Combat. This model comes in black or stainless, with or without a rail. Warrior Pro Covert Used Pro TLE R/L wearing VZs new Elite Tactical grips with mag release cut out Used Nighthawk GRP Recon with Crimson Trace laser grips and Surefire X200 Wilson Profesional, black over silver Armor Tuff finish And now for something completely whacked.... Guy comes in to ask if we clean guns. True story. |

Yes, last year they changed the Gold Combat a little. The two biggest changes I saw were a bushingless bull barrel and the new grips.
