I dont know, but I agree with your view; a single stack 9mm that has a grip big enough to hold onto without your pinky dangling off.

The day I got my XDS my very first thought was this thing needs a 8rd mag. A few months later I saw the announcement they were coming out with them. Haven't had a chance to find one yet, so I too am interested in info.

My new XDS came with a 8rd mag, the height with the 8rd is just a little over 4 7/8".
Here is a couple pics, measuring from the top of the rear sight. The 4" model with the 8rd mag should be pretty close to a SS G19.

Sorry, I forgot about this thread.
Yes, with the 8rd mag I can get a full grip with a little over an 1/8" to spare, I do have smaller hands though. If you have fatter fingers you may end up with only half a pinky on there. |

I just wanted to echo my similar thoughts in this thread. The XD-S 4.0 with the 8 round mid mag is pretty much exactly what a single stack g19 would be. Imo, it's the perfect carry gun. I'm 5'10 with 'average' hands and I can get a full handed grip on it, and with an N82 holster it doesn't print at all with the extended grip length.
