have a series 70 lightwt commaner someone ground down tang to fit a beavertail safety cant fit any other grip safty and would like to get back orig. profile any suggestions?

Basically, you're going to need to replace the frame, unless you have some seriously kick ass aluminum welding skills...

If you're not attached to it, sell it and roll the proceeds into a new Commander...

Post a picture so we can see the "damage" you may have some options.  Welding aluminum takes a skill but it can be done.

Your S/N start LW or CLW?  Try to date your gun on Colt's site.
