I know this has been talked about recently but why are glocks, particularly the gen 4, tough to find everywhere? I was assuming Christmas, but it's 2.5 months later now and none of my shops in the area have gen 4 9mms and haven't for months. .40s, .45s, and the 43 is easy, but I haven't seen a 17,19, or 26 in months. The online places like Grabagun and buds haven't had them either. I can't remember ever seeing them this hard to get so what's going on?

I've checked with some wholesale distributors and can't find any Glock 9mms. I can get LEO trades from a couple distributors but they've only got 40S&W in G27 and G22 and 45acp G21. Most are Gen 3. I did pick up an LEO Trade Gen 4 G22. Looked like a shelf queen. No night sights either. I don't know what the deal is. I'm in the Northeast but pull from distributors from the Midwest, South and Texas. The one distributor has some LEO trade LMT Carbines. I was tempted but I think the resale would be too high for a basic patrol carbine at the price they're asking.

My LGS had several 17s and 19s.  Have you tried gunbroker?

My order from Glock will be here in a month supposedly.  So maybe that's when they're gearing up for another Gen 4 9mm production run?

They may be in production on large frame, G37, or building that carbine finally.......

I'm sure your post is satire but I doubt an order of 3,000 Glock 19's would disturb the market

Must be regional. Plenty of Gen 4's and G19's in my AO.

Plus, aren't they using Gen3s?

OP, it's weird that you can't find Gen4 models since my LGS is flush with them.  The Gen3s are actually harder to find around here.

One of my LGS had over 15 Gen4 G19's when I stopped in the other day but I have noticed that Buds Online has had them listed as OOS for a while now

The Navy order was likely pretty substantial and a lot of LE agencies have switched to the Gen4 9mm pistols, I believe that is having an impact on the supply lines.  When an LE agency switches to a new platform, many officer purchase compatible off duty/back up guns.  The sailors who will be carrying the 19 may be doing the same.  They're in high demand that's for sure.  I just ordered a Gen4 G19 this morning, who knows when I'll see it.

26's are in stock at Grabagun Nuge. RIGHT NOW.
I got mine the 2nd week of January and they were scarce then.
With folks getting their tax refunds now and the political climate being what it is,
they will be hard to find from now till after the election.

I guess because Glock USA is here in Georgia, we have Glocks in stock all the time.  I have never seen a gun store out of stock of Glock 17s, 19s, in Gen 3 and Gen 4.

I am not aware of any shortages.

Ha!  Inquired about a Gen4 G19 yesterday and was told they were out and had a waiting list.  Sent in my info to get put on the list this morning and got a call two hours later, they got a shipment in and I was good to go.  Timed it perfectly I guess.

I have a small pawnshop and am an FFL. I order new guns from four or five different distributors. NONE have hardly any 9mm pistols in stock. No Glocks, very few Springfields, only higher priced or special/unwanted feature Smith and Wessons, only full-size Rugers, no Kel-Tec. Nearly every thing is out of stock. Even Taurus is sold out. About the only things I can get right now are CZ75s, Browning Hi-Powers and FNH. FWIW, .40 caliber pistols are much more available.

I've only been an FFL for five years but it seems like supply is tight every spring. This year is a bit of a perfect storm though. The post-San Bernardino panic and the president's latest gun sales stimulus initiative combined with the usual beginning of the year Christmas/tax refund/SHOT show rush has left the cupboards bare.

I don't know this for a fact but my suspicion is that the distributors have guns but they're filling stocking dealer program orders. Once those programs end, they will move inventory to the open stock shelves. If this is true, you should see guns available at larger dealers and supply will start flowing to the smaller shops soon. Wait a month or two. Things should return to normal.

The way things are, and with this insane election year I think it's gonna be tough finding them. Most dealers I've talked to that have them back ordered have a waiting list on 17/19's...I have seen some 40 cal's around. Good alternative to get one and a 9MM conversion.

There's a big shop a little ways from me that had gen 4 17s, 19s, and 26s yesterday. I was distracted by a grand power they had but might go back today and just get a 17 and 26 and then I don't have to worry about it.

I bought a Gen 4 26 last week off the shelf in a local small town gunshop. It was $575. He had another one to replace it before my 3 day waiting period was up.
