Who would you use? Who HAVE you used? I really just want the finger grooves removed on my G23. But I am not paying $300 to have it done.
So? |
|
Lane Owens at Cold Bore Custom is who I've used half a dozen times and highly recommend.

If it's just the finger grooves I've done it myself, doesn't look as pretty as having someone else do it, but if you do some research you should be able to do a pretty good job. Mine look rough, but I just hate the finger grooves, so I'd rather it look bad and shoot well, than look good.
I used PolymerGripProfiling for the ones I had done professionally, and he does great work, removed finger grooves, straightened the backstrap, undercut the trigger guard, and stippled. One one he added mag cutouts, and on the other he rounded off the trigger guard. I know he used to be in Weatherford TX, but I think he moved at least 6 months ago and haven't gotten a new location on him since then. |
|
OP, did you check with Robar in AZ? I had two Glocks modified through them and the prices was reasonable.
|
|
Boresightsolutions. Nicest work I've handled. He's local to me. Saving my pennies.
|
|
Cold Bore is excellent. I currently have a 19 in the hands of Agency Arms for a full build to include their frame work. Check em out.

Ive had 2 done by Coldbore, and they where excellent. I know he's been swamped for awhile now, but he's worth the wait. Having said that, I like what Tacticle Texture is doing with his framework, and would consider him, if I where in the market again.

Dude, save the money and get the full agency arms work up. It's the most incredible pistol I have. It's like going from an altima to a Ferrari. Frame, slide, rmr, trigger, its just awesome. Recoil is a little snappier but the handling is unreal. Plus with an rmr, you should be tightening your groups by huge margins. I had my doubts... But they delivered completely.
|
|
I'm also having my gun worked by Agency. Full package - when it gets back I'll post up some pictures.

Yup! Me too. Lane Owens does very nice work.

Cold Bore Customs was my first choice as a picture I saw there fit the bill for what I want perfectly. I will check out some of these other suggestions as well.
Thanks! |

Coldbore customs http://www.coldborecustom.com/ Boresight Solutions http://www.boresightsolutions.com/ Tactical Textures and Triggers http://www.tacticaltexture.com/ I know APS personally and have met the others either through here or another forum. The accelerator cut is simple to do, I put one on my gun in about 5 mins. I do keep talking myself out of one of their triggers... but if I have any OT on the next pay I'm buying one. |

Yeah, I can't remember if it was Oklahoma, Arkansas, or one of the other states, and I haven't seen any updates on his facebook, photobucket, or other accounts. I was hoping he would get settled in and I could still get another gun or two to him, but haven't heard or seen him since. I guess I could try calling his old phone and see if it connects. Let him at least know people are wondering about him. |

What color is that slide Primary_Machine?
How do you do the Accelerator Cut 4DAIVIPetc??? Just a heat gun and push/build the polymer up? I really like the Agency stippling (only felt 2--one is mine) and Kyle Lamb's Salient stippling (both done with a checkered tip--round I think). I like them a bit better than my own and other good hand-stipple jobs I've felt. I'm going to HAVE to have something done to my G43, since after shooting the Agency 19 with the accerator cut, the G43 jumps too much (I use 124gr, and sometimes +P) and is harder to hold onto--I hate having to readjust my grip. Grip tape may help, but I doubt any is grippy enough. I tried one, but after heating it as recommended, it got too soft and smooth. |

I would probably send my to Tactical Texture and Triggers but I'm not going to pay $350 for stuff that I do not want done. It baffles me how some of the businesses would rather turn away money than just offer an à la carte list, but hey their company their rules I suppose

View Quote Dremel sanding drum, after taking out the tear down lever, I restippled the whole area. Frame side and the shelve as it seemed to make me sense to me to texture the area where the thumb sits. I only did the left side as a right handed shooter. When my buddy comes back up this way I'll have him re stipple the area to match the previous stipple he did on the whole gun. |

Arguments of who does "better stippling" are just....well...silly. Everyone is going to have their opinion of what looks best. Thankfully, there's plenty of great shops out there to choose from. I've seen some stippling jobs across several forums done by guys in their garage that look better than several of some of the most popular shops out there who are "professionals". Opinions...we all got one - and none are fact.

There are others that are good at stippling, Tactical Textures for instance. His work is good, not on the same level as SSVI or Boresight though. AA, Zev, and all the others that do similar work, I consider those to be eyesores. It may function just fine, it looks like crap in my opinion. The factory texture looks better. The guys that are really good though, they actually make the gun look better than what it did in stock form. Yes, this is my opinion, obviously when I say something "looks like" I'm conveying a subjective idea. You're entitled to your own opinion, but I'm going to think you're for thinking that AA's stippling looks good. ETA: The Agency, SSVI, BDL collaboration you posted the pic of, that looks phenomenal, even with the over the top slide work. |
