Dream gun specs?
Link Posted: 1/19/2015 3:42:52 PM EDT
[#2]

Did it using a dremel and soldering iron. This is the only pic I have before I touched it up. The left side started to wear from carry so I changed it to this..

ATEi did the milling for the RMR
I did the grip reduction, undercut, and took off the finger grooves.  I had stippled it using a soldering iron but after about a year the plastic was starting to wear thin.  A guy at my local gunshop used epoxy and carbide dust to give it the sandpaper effect. My wife calls it the 'glitter gun'.

Two-tone (FDE) Gen3 19.  Vickers slide stop and mag release.  Soon, I'll have my other slide back from ATEi with side and top serrations as well as HD night sights (orange front).

TXPO--nice guns.  I recognized them as Cold Bore Customs...then I realized it WAS you!  I want one done by you, but don't know if I can wait 16-24 weeks...6 months is a long time (though I think my next pistol class isn't until August or September).  I emailed you my last two questions and have the work order filled out though.  You definitely have the most beautiful glock I've seen--that one with the bobtail on a glock with a rounded trigger guard!

This is my 2nd G19.  About 10 years ago, I had Burns Customs do the grip reduction, and I did the undercut, rounded trigger guard, and tried to copy Joint Force Enterprise's "gravel" style stipple--very aggressive (this slide and barrel are new--the camera makes it look like crap, but in real life the stipple looks much better--much more even...it's still a glock, so function over form):

Someone is keeping all these places backed up:  Cold Bore Customs, Boresight Solutions, Salient, Diversified Firearm Concepts, Sweaty Muddy Bloody, Burns Customs, Bowie Tactical, Weapon Worx, Robar, etc.  (I'm sure I'm forgetting a ton.)

I agree I think that is Rob Pincus' he cut on by himself first then sent off.

I definitely would use a railed model.

I refinished the barrel with norrells moly resin socom black
And the slide flat dark earth.  I stippled the grip really

I did my beater / shooter 30 just to see:

Not a fan of heat stippling so put some rubber grip tape on for now. Might try silicon carbide in some kind of binder to finish it off. Rounded trigger guard (surprising how much better a 2 hand grip feels) under cut a bit (could be better but it works).

I like it but there's no fire under my rear end to do the others.

Both have double undercut trigger guard and carry stipple job. The G19 got a little trim on the finger grooves.

Did the grip chop on my G17 to accept G19 mags this morning... Also stippled it and did the trigger guard undercut... Gotta finish flaring the mag well and do a little finish work on it, can't wait to get to the range and try it out!

TheJeanyus, have to ask, How well did the Epoxy treatment hold up?  Was it just JB weld or was it another epoxy setup?  It got me thinking about all sorts of design ideas for my G20 project if I can ever settle on a starting frame.

The previous owner did it, so I don't know many details.  It held up fine, though.  In fact, it was very difficult to remove.  I had to slam it against concrete to break it off, then I still had to fight with some small pieces that were leftover.  I ended up soaking it in hot water to soften it up a little bit and finally chipped it all off.

Interesting.  But I think I would like a little more unmolested frame.  I am ok with the chopping.  But I would opt for no finger mag cutouts and finer stippling.  JMHO

SGT45 , thanks.

Used a 60w iron bought from eBay to burn , dremel 4200 to do the grinding. Did the outline first slow & careful & then didn't really follow a certain pattern I just stippled anywhere & everywhere inside my outline.

did this with a hand file then using a 120 grit flap wheel on the dremel to try and clean it up.  I like MP guns so I figured I would make the glock more like the S&W.  Im gonna hit it with some sand paper by hand and use a very small tip on a iron to put a really minor texture to it in the form of a stipple but I will sand on that a bit too.

I used a 30 watt iron with a sharp tip.  Just a little Walmart thing...used very little pressure, more of a light, rapid tapping.  I tried it out on the lid of a can of spray paint first to get the texture I wanted before I did the guns.

To do the type of stippling that I wanted I needed a relatively small soldering iron so I could hold and control it easily...like a pencil.

I cut mine a little long and then sanded on it until I got the length that I wanted... I mostly just eyeballed it, didn't really measure anything... and obviously I kept an empty mag handy to check every few minutes until I got it where I wanted it. I think I'll fill in the back of the grip with epoxy and do a butt plug style feedramp for the magazine well, but that'll be down the road, I've only got about 200 rounds through the gun.

My company sure shot armament glock 19, I'll post since it's in the recovery section of the operating bench as I type, decided to upload before cerakote so you can see the detail, I used a small tip for a fine texture, grip reduction on the back hump and made the whole grip smaller, removed the finger grooves , double trigger guard under cut with both Size dremel drums, glove bevel the trigger guard for more room and ease of reach to the trigger, border can be done with a  cutting disk, a etching bit,  a dental hand piece works good too just find what works best . I use a sharpie to draw where I'm going to cut the outline in.
