Do they make these things in .270, or could they be chambered for .270? I think they look cool, but I dont want to stock a million different calibers...

7.62x54R wolf ammo is about $.20 a round, not too expensive to stock and it hits like a .30-06

It also uses the Kalashnikov system, so it's not technically a Dragunov.

Dragunovparts.com is out of business apparently.

I've had to go to handloading for my Tiger, but my best group so far is this 5 shot one the other day.  The flyer was #2 in the string, so it may have been me because obviously everything came right back together for the final 3.  Range was 100 yards off of a bench using a Russian issue receiver mounted bipod.  Load data is on the target if you're interested.

Here's the last group I shot with my .308 NDM back in 2003 before my last mule deer hunt.  The bullet was factory Hornady 168gr AMAX (it seems both my shooter drags like Hornady bullets).

and here's the next shot a couple weeks later.....

A Really bad pic of me, but that is the real deal originally issued Russian SVD. In this pic we just got done showing the locals that Marines are no joke even if we have sub-standard weapons.

The Sniper I borrowed the SVD from was NOT happy about being "shown-up" in front of his platoon commander by an American. We smoked them with their own weapons, then showed them how leathal we could be with our own M40's.

BTW this pic is about 10 years old, so that is not 'stan or iraq.

One of these days I am going to find the original and re-scan it with a current technology scanner.

I want one of those shortened romaks!! I wonder if they are reliable that short? that would make an awesome truck gun.

You and the rest of us!  I wouldn't look for any loosening of restrictions with the current Congress Cadre, however.

Problem isn't so much Congress as a trade agreement w/Russia (plus their own internal policy) of not selling current military equipment. The SVD polymer furniture I have on my NDM-86's is technically illegal for any Russian to export but it's not illegal for us to own here in the US.

Despite the newer versions I believe the original is still in service (someone correct me if I'm mistaken... Saleen?...)

I know that I didn't see any with the Ukranians that I saw in Iraq back in 2005, but I didn't exactly spend alot of time with them either.  I think I went to their post near the town of Al Kut two or three times total....
