I been messing around with this extra stock before I did mine. This type of wood after the first coat don't really want to soak in anymore. This is two coats of redwood stain and then 3 coats of semi-gloss polyurethane with the dye. Not sure if I would want to go with a coat of high gloss or not.
So what ya think of this? Something different.

Looks nice. A little light if you're going for a true Chinese look though.

Yea that's what I was thinking also. Normally the wood gets darker with the dye but not this wood. Might have to go with a darker stain before the dye. Been trying to alter this stock a bit since I'm thru playing with it and this is some freaking hard wood.
