So back in 2007-2008 I bought this AK and decided to try and find some Russian optic to put on it. My last time out shooting started out fine. It was zeroed. Put it down, picked it up a few minutes later and it was like 8" low out of no where. I made sure everything was locked down tight. The rail, optic ring etc. Went back out and re-zeroed it again. I just don't think it may hold up again. It isn't like I bang this thing around but it might have gone bad.
I haven't looked at AK mounting options and optics in a long time. Is there anything you guys can recommend? I want to stay with a red dot or something low power 2-4x max. I know I can just throw an aimpoint on it if I wanted to but looking for something different maybe. Just digging I came across a few good reviews about the PK-01VS. Thoughts on those??? Current setup with a standard side mount.

There's a ton more choices available now then there were back in '08, and you're not just limited to Eastern optics either. You're best bet it to narrow it down to what type of optic you're looking for, and your budget.

I'm leaning toward a red dot and would like to use the side mount option as I don't want to remove the handguards and put tactical stuff on.

Seems people are pretty happy with it. |
