newbie here and my first build
haters gonna hate my choice of gear UTG 4 postion buttstock $30 UTG front sight $30 UTG rear sight $30 UTG rifle length free float quad rail $90 midwest industries low profile gas block .750 $40 surplus arms/ammo stripped lower $60 DPMS lower parts kit $60 Rguns 16 inch gov profile (mid length gas system) complete upper $460 scope riser is some el-cheapo chinese mount i found at gun show for $25 the scope is a BSA 55mm 3x9 power i got for free on a gun trade all in all, i "broke" the gun in with no lube for 300 rounds, not a single damn failure, very reliable, round count is just shy of 1000 now, not a single failure at all, all the parts are lightly lubed now of course, i love this rifle alot, very accurate, longest local range is 200 yards and they got a 1 foot wide 3 foot tall steel plate at 200 yard mark, i can hit that standing, very happy with this rifle and how it turned out even useing cheap gear, no other future plans with this one, just gonna get rid of those ugly oversized "thumb nuts" that hold the irons on and replace with with something smaller and stronger, but i do plan on building more gun weighs in just shy of 8 pounds with a fully loaded mag in it, (with irons not the scope) i applied high pigment white and red to my lower and painted in the bullet symbols, i think it looks great http://i49.tinypic.com/2m35yep.jpg http://i48.tinypic.com/14cso4k.jpg http://i48.tinypic.com/2digh1g.jpg http://i50.tinypic.com/x6inbs.jpg |

Want to buy: -Slickside carrier for a 604 receiver |
My first "build". About 6 months old now with a 1000ish rounds through it. Not really considered a build since I had it ready to fire by purchasing a complete upper and lower.lol. Probably get some hate on the parts, but the price was def right. Working on a second gun now. Lower is ready to go just torn on upper/barrel options. Anyways, here are some pics/specs......
All prices are total. No shipping or transfer for me since Midway is 5 miles away, and lower was a local group buy with a licensed buddy. New Frontier LW15. Complete assembled with collapsible stock - $90 new I know the polymer is kinda frowned upon, but I've been very pleased with it. I did make a couple changes... Basic CMMG fire control group (didn't like the polymer here) - $20 new installed (cmmg factory is actually within 30 miles and they have a retail/outlet store in town) Yahkee Hill takedown pins - $15 new DPMS Oracle Complete upper. 5.56 with BCG - $375 new So gun was pretty much done at $465. Then to keep with the cheap theme..... Walther P55 optic. Really wanted an AAA powered one. - $80 new Two Grip Pods + metal A2 sights + charging handle with larger latch - $100 for all used Osprey Drop In quad rail w/ rail covers - $50 new Hogue Grip - $16 new All in all, extremely happy with it. It was a great gun to get my feet wet with. http://i48.tinypic.com/2h6y454.jpg http://i48.tinypic.com/24415z8.jpg http://i45.tinypic.com/671frm.jpg http://i49.tinypic.com/rlb587.jpg http://i48.tinypic.com/34rewly.jpg |

Got Wood?
I'm sure this one will go over like a Lead Balloon....but here it is. I bought a Ruger SR1911 earlier this year. I liked the look and stumbled across some Wood Furniture at the Chantilly VA Gun Show. I decided then and there I would build an AR that matches my Ruger SR1911. Since Ruger released the SR1911 for the 100th Anniversary and Spikes released this receiver set for its 10th anniversary.... I think I did ok on that LOL. And here it is: http://i1095.photobucket.com/albums/i468/AKSofty/ruger_ar_finished.jpg For those who "may" be intrested in what is in this build: Walnut Wood Furniture - Precision Arms Gaithersburg, MD Spikes Tactical Anniversary NP3 Coated Matched upper/lower Recievers. Black Rain Ordnance .223 Wylde Chambered M4 Slim Profile Barrel Carbine Length 1/8 SS JP Enterprises SS Adjustable Gas block w/ rail JP Enterprises SS Compensator Daniel Defense Burnsed Loop. Yankee Hill folding combat sights. DPMS Carbine Gas Tube Std Barrel nut, Delta Ring assy. |

I'm not really in to the whole clone thing, that's not a bad idea though. I never really thought about it, any resemblance to an early M4 is purely coincidental. This configuration rocks, I really like how light and practical it is. |

Im not a big fan of the carry handles, I have a red dot that I will be mounting to it. (the mount for glass on carry handles are ugly) I have no plans to mount any accessories on it so I don't need any quad rails I also plan to hydro-dip the stock and handguards in a pepper laminate wood grain and I think the A1 handguards would look a lot better than any other handguards on the market. |
