Wow, I really like this! I used it yesterday in the FDCC match (which was a lot of fun!). The first course I ran with the magnifier where we had to shoot two different IDPA type targets with two to the body one to the head and 3 small steel targets two times each all at about 25 + yards. The second course I flipped the mount out of the way and just used the Aimpoint to shoot 2 shots each on three IDPA type targets at about 10 yards, reload and do it again, then advance 5 yards and do the same thing with pistol.
This was my first time using this set up to shoot with, and while I will tell you for certain, I still like my ACOG best, this makes me like my Aimpoint A LOT more. And the mount is probably the biggest reason I like it so much. If you are getting a Aimpoint magnifier, Im telling you, this is the mount to get. With its throw lever, it does what all the other mounts can do to come on and off easy enough. But none of the other mounts will flip 100% out of your line of sight with the touch of a button, or come back as quick as a flip of a hinge.
I have the right handed flip model. This keeps the optic clear of both my eyes when flipped out of the way. It also keeps it out of the way of my charging handle in case I need to access it in a hurry (malfuntion clearance). The biggest question I and everyone else asked was if ejecting rounds will strike the magnifier. Not that I noticed. We shot about 300 rounds through the gun yesterday, about half with the mount flipped to the side. And I could not notice a single mark of any kind on the rubber armor of the magnifier.
Which brings me to another point. I imagine that even if the ejecting brass did strike the optic when flipped, all it would hit was the rubber armor. On top of that, the entire magnifier is still coated with the rubber armor because you dont have to cut any of it off to use the mount. The magnifies has 4 screw holes in the base that the Samson flip mount uses to secure the two together. There is no 30mm ring used, so you dont have to cut a portion of the armor off the magnifier to mount the optic in the mount. To my knowledge, you have to cut a portion of the plastic off the magnifier to use it on every other mount currently available for it. Including Aimpoints own twist mount.
In any case, time will tell if this mount or, the magnifier itself is as good as I was left feeling it is. But after the firt time out, Im pretty stoked about this combo...

Shooting at the small steel plates with the magnifier
Shooting with it flipped out of the way
Dropped the gun to transition to pistol
